So its 1944 January and USAAF and RAF are doing strategic bombing on Berlin and other cities "on the map"-area I have control over (not theater boxes). If I place my fighters and AA flak in these cities, will the AI take note of that for strategic damage and losses of their planes? Also does the AI take note of the above in the theater boxes? In other words the more fighters and AA Flak I have in theater boxes and on the map does that effect the results of the strategic bombing!

From what I can see in the event editor Strat Bombing is not influenced by TB or what you have on the map. The only influence you have is assigning construction units to speed up damage repair.

I also remember loki saying awhile ago that more air resources committed to WE can reduce the severity of the bombing campaign.

yes its a similar benefit to over-stacking the SU Garrison Theatre. It doesn't affect the underlying events but can reduce the impact

edit: on map AA in the affected cities is meant to have a similar effect - I assume this is the case as you have a fair bit of fixed AA in those locations but not easy to actually test

on map air doesn't, this is assumed to be allocated to deal with the VVS

As Roger said, assets in the WE TB will reduce the impact of the bombing across the board. Flak in on-map cities will reduce the impact of any strategic event bombing that targets that particular city. So overall best to put assets in the WE TB, but you wll get specific flak coverage for cities that have on-map (in city) flak.

So you could technically take every single flak on the Eastern Front and flood Western Europe TB with it. That could have interesting results on both fronts.

That was a tactic in WitW when playing with the East Front Box : send most of the LW East in early 1944 when the Strat Bombing VPs ratios dropped, and bring flak to generate damage points (instead of A2A kills). It worked. Somehow.

Interesting how it would play out the othe way round (although I think the AA value in TB is capped at 101% of the fighters in the TB...)

aye, I think the sub-caps may slow the impact but in my vs AI I've been dumping a steady stream of weaker AA units into the Western TB. Must admit I was thinking more of the VP rather than minimising the bombing damage

And for the air value, which what matters for the strat bombing events, the high flak is more important.
