So Erik what is next?

You have been on and off this Forum for several days now.
Here to keep peace on the forum?…This forum is typically very peaceful.
There has been a lot of strife since you showed up.

What else? Yesterday you were sitting up there on the users line like a buzzard waiting for road kill.

Was Alfred your only target or are you looking for others?
Are there more reprobates and irredeemable deplorables on a list?

Is this forum now animal house? Are we on double secret probation?

Are you watching in case some innocent new player wanders onto this Forum
and suffers brain damage before you can shut it down?

Or has MarkShot convinced you we are like a Heaven’s Gate cult?
Now that Alfred has got a suspension this imaginary camp you think
is here is going to commit mass suicide by drinking poison Kool-aid.

I’m just a retired Architect. I’m in my basement working on my hobbies.
I’m a little out of touch with the real world. What is going on out there?

Are buses full of new players heading for the border at full speed to get as
far away from this forum as possible?

Does the FBI have subpoenas on us? Are swat teams right now headed to our
homes to confiscate our disks and worn out game manuals and fit us for ankle bracelets.
Are you here to keep us calm until they haul us away?

Or maybe…...a new policy directive is coming down from Matrix.
You want to be here when the hammer comes down.

MarkShot has explained that the forums don’t really exist for players to discuss the game.
The forums are here for only one reason, to make money for Matrix.

(That MarkShot…...he must be a real great brown nose corporate chip off the old block.)

Does Matrix want me to “Push” game sales?

Then…..I admit I am guilty of telling a potential buyer what this game is really like. The good and bad.
I try to figure out what type of gamer he is; is he casual or hard core.
Does he have more than a casual interest in the Pacific War.
I’ll tell him about the complexity of the game and the steep learning curve.
I’ll tell him about the time required.

This game is not for everyone.
If I think it is very wrong for him I’ll tell him it might be.
It is a lot of money for something he will not like.
Buying an expensive game that he hates might turn him off to Matrix forever.

If you want me to do a hard sell routine to close the deal and get him to buy I’m not going to do it.
I’m not a slick used car salesman.

If that is the case you might as well ban me right now.

So what else?

1...2..3.. DRAMA

This is a marketing ploy to get more posters I suppose, OP?
Or are you really asking an admin/mod why he is browsing his "own" forum?
I heard this is part of the "job"

Well all I can say is all the chaos, intrigue, infighting, rabble railing, horn blowing, weeping and gnashing of teeth has caused me to install WitP-AE again after 5-10 years…

I think Erik got involved when one of the Moderators wasn't sure he could ban Alfred, so he kicked the question upstairs. The coincidental arrival of MarkShot led to exchanges that I still do not fully understand, but the balance in the Force is definitely upset. Best to leave it all alone, methinks.

Alfred got banned? That sucks if true, he is one of the best sources of game information here.

A drama for sure but not of my making.

This could get as good as The Sopranos or better yet Breaking Bad.

Fortunately only temporary, he can come back by the end of the week.

Sounds cool, me likes some drama too :) But good Alfred was banned finally.. I almost "missed" his arrogant tone here, sometimes even turning newbies away from the game.

I cannot ban members. I can, however, close the pool.

This is pretty much the definition of trolling, which is against the forum rules. Also, trolling an admin is even worse manners.

If you'd like to know what I'm doing here and believe me, I have things I'm sure everyone would rather have me doing than forum moderation, I'm here to make sure that our forum rules are followed and that one of our most important sub-communities does not tear itself apart and remains a welcoming place for all new players. I've never asked anyone to be anything but civil and honest. If you disagree with those goals, you're welcome to find a different forum.

As far as the trolling and the unnecessary drama and conspiracies, cut it out, consider this an official warning.

Regards,

- Erik
