Well then, I give you a KV-2

warspite1

I know little about tanks. Why was that oversised chunk of metal considered necessary in the KV-2's design?

I think it was due to the 152mm howitzer it had rather than the 76mm of the KV-1.

A 152mm main gun and the German 88mm AT shells bounced off the armour.

Yeah I don't see the beauty in anything like a Grant or a Lee.

If you'd been in the 8th Army in May 1942, anything with a 75mm gun would have looked gorgeous to you.

They ruled in the desert in Afrika during that summer and they were very effective in the Burma theatre.

She may not have been the biggest nor the most famous, but the USS North Carolina will always be my favorite because she was the first warship I ever toured. The first of the new generation of USN fast battleships in WWII, she had an impecable service record in the Pacific...and she had an ice cream machine

Still a beauty, and it still has a Kingfisher scout plane. You can easily spend a full day touring that ship.

At the time I toured it, I had no clue that BBs could launch and recover aircraft. It was pretty mind blowing to my teenage self. As was the size of the shells her 16" guns hurled, holy cow. I knew they were big, but standing next to them in the flesh really puts it into perspective.

Unless you are attacking Disneyland a lime green vehicle would be a detriment.

Looks like a stretched Brewster Buffalo. Kind of.

Yeah I know, Buff has wing about mid fuselage but if you squint and look at it out of the corner of your eye...

Charge the enemy without orders to attack, causing the world's largest battleship to turn away from the battle. Then turning around to give cover to another destroyer even though one of your engines is shot out.

Love the armored flight deck. Not fond of the plane capacity compared to the Essex class.
