I would like to discuss subjects related to the option for resolving the battles outside EIA.
The below "battle of Cologna" is created and played out in The Napoleonic Battles series from Wargame Design Studio.
It is my first battle created in the editor, but it is very similar to the editor found in The campaign Series, (Also a John Tiller game) which I have used a lot in the past, except for the scripting features which I need to understand better in the future.

The general setting is this:
Playing as France. February 1805, Austria declares war on Bavaria, which I have promised to support in case of war.
Austria march in and besiege Munich, which manage to hold on until the Grande Armee can intervene. Meanwhile in northern Italy the Austrians moves into eastern Lombardy. Massena seeing that this enemy force is not the whole Austrian Italian army under command of John but a minor force, decides to strike. Massena meet the Austrians and a battle followed.

"Battle of Cologna" 1st April. See the below pics.
Massena's force: 29.000 Inf and 4000 Cav.
Austrian force: 15.000 Inf and 1000 Cav.
Clearly a French numerical advantage.

So the numbers and general situation is set. Now a suitable map and force composition remains to be found.
For map I chose the Caldiero map in the Austerlitz Campaign title. The location does match somewhat.
The French order of battle is taken from the same Armee D'Italy OB. Just starting from the top down of the list until the troop types and numbers match reasonably. The same for the Austrians.
Next step was to set them up on the map and do the battle settings in the battle editor.
The battle was played out and a victory was found, and it was the French who won, no surprise here given the numbers.

Outcome:
French losses was relative minor 1153 Inf and 274 cav. Rounding down, as the French won to one Inf point lost. They could better collect the wounded and stragglers when in procession of the battlefield.
The Austrian losses was heavier. 4539 Inf and 599 Cav lost. Rounding to 4 Inf point lost and 0 Cav lost.
Could perhaps have been more harsh on the Austrian but as they withdraw toward their lines op supplies they might gather up reinforcements to fill some of their ranks. Also Not all losses were fatal, many were wounds in some degree and possible many later reunited with their units.
So these numbers is then entered in the battle text file generated from EIA and imported back in.

Nice. As always, if you have any suggestions for clarifying the instructions in the game manual (11.6), just let me know. I take it that it's clear enough and you managed ok, but there's always room for some improvements.
