Hi
I have played SPWAW for two weeks now and I found it just GREAT! I couldn't imagine that turn-based game could be so real. Thank you, Matrix.
After playing some scenarios I finally decided I'm ready for a campaign! I started with the short one - Preparing the way.
The first scenario was much harder than I expected but I finally managed to break the resistance and the airport was mine. I still had 3 turns left so I engaged in killing as many enemy soldiers as possible to get more points, leaving two of the victory hexes unconquered and unmanned (there were still French flags over it). I figured that after the slaughter I would have enough time to drive through these hexes since there was no opposition anymore. And suddenly, one turn before the end, the French morale was broken and the scenario ended leaving me with a draw!!! The worst thing is I didn't have any saves (it's too tempting to reload if the enemy's attacks were "too efficient" ) and I had to start from the beginning.
And here is my question.
When the game is finished BEFORE the last turn, because of enemy's broken morale, shouldn't all victory locations automatically be considered as mine? The enemy is fleeing or surrendering all across the map (that's how I understand broken morale). What if I broke his morale five turns earlier (I don't think it was possible in this scenario - it is just "what if") I wouldn't even have a time to reach the furthest victory hex. Regards
Tomek

A force will not normally surrender the battle if it still has vic hexes. Since you went on a killing spree, and the first scenario of PTW doesn't have that many French units to begin with, you may have killed off the entire French army, forcing the game to end due to no ai forces. The value of the vic hexes in that battle shouldn't have tipped the differance between a draw and marginal. Remember you need a 3-1 point ratio to get a marginal.
thanks, John.

You're right. While I was pursuing the enemy units the last of them left the map through retreat hex leaving me with only three victory hexes.
Thanks John.

It may sound weird...but sometimes we have to deal with earlier end of battle...
Maybe that's a while-itearation that stops cycling when a condition (tied either to vic hex or troops) remaining comes true.... Unless turn lenght has not been reached I would prefer a prompt : "French surrendering..do you wish to continue (Y/N) ? "
So one can take all its victory points...
That may be more realistic I think...
Bye
