Would there be any other screens apart from the world map in this games (eg. during battle, a new screen, close up of a hex?)

You give your units orders using the unit screen interface. Just by clicking a button and selecting a destination hex. This is true for ships and for land units. Once a unit arrives combat will occur for aircraft and ships. Land units will attack bases. This is the way it happens in UV and I believe WitP is similar.
I think there are screenshots on the UV site which will perhaps give a better explanation.

Movement is done by selecting a unit and giving it orders to march to a destination hex. Depending on the terrain and availability of roads/railroads the unit will move so many mile per day. Each hex is 60 miles so it may take several days to move one hex. It may take weeks to more a unit where you want it to go. You can also move units by ship and plane.

Once you are in a hex occupied by enemy units, you have several attack options. You can bombard, shock attack, shock attack and pursue, deliberate attack. Each attack has its benifits and drawbacks. After selecting orders for all your units, you end the turn and the computer process all the results before your next turn.

I don't think I've seen the option of "shock attack and pursue" in any of the AAR's. Does it show up simply as "shock attack", or are the drawbacks so great that no one has used it yet?

Hi, It is very usefull when, The pursuit force will not enter a hex where other previously unengaged enemy units are waiting. I use it where I will achive a breakthrough.

The pursue option only becomes available if a shock attack is selected.

Ok, a little more details on this Shock Attack/Pursue Enemy thingee. In WiTP, do the retreating forces magically march to the next hex ala UV? If so, does the Pursue Enemy magically march to the next hex too? Or is the retreat in WiTP different, and the losing forces set to march to the nearest hex? Inquiring minds want to know!!!

Hi The retreating units move 1 hex towards a friendly supply source (if there is none they surrender rather then retreat) They have disruption and fatigue added to them as a result of the move. The pursuit units get a certain number of miles added to their distance traveled (they head to the hex the enemy retreated into) Depending on the type of terrian and path they may actually move into the same hex the same turn.

This was one of my biggest complains in UV ground battle model (the magical teleport of defeating units from HEX where combat was)...
