I have been creating some battles for PBEM lately and it would be nice to have a little more control on what happens.

How do you determine whether the VH's will be per turn points or end of game points?

Is there anyway to influence what a random map looks like? Does year / month / countries have an effect on what shows up? Can you use this to create the map then change the nations? I have tried creating a random map and saving it but sometimes it retains a much lower game length than I set when making the new battle. What is up with that?

Thank you for your time.

I'm not really an expert about editing maps but when you making a scenario and are in a deploy phase there's a button at the lower left of the button bar that has 2 small flags in it. 'Edit victory locations' or like. Click it and you'll enter the victor flag placement screen..place the flag, then click the 'move cursor to victory location' and then click the 'change victory location type'. It'll cycle through all possible options. I'm sure you'll find it

It is possible to save and edit random generated maps only in the solitaire mode. If you set up a battle in PBEM mode the map can not be saved.

So, find a generated map that you like then save the game

go to the SAVE folder and find that saved game.

Edit the names of the saved game files to scen###.*

Then move the scen files to the SCEN folder.

Now you can edit the battle as if it is a scenario.
You can edit the map in any way you see fit and you can select new locations and values for the victory flags. Just be sure that you do not edit the nations unless you want to enter headache land. It can be made to work but only with a lot of frustration and banging of head on the desk

Save the map.

Now, when you set up your PBEM battle, you can use your edited and saved map, and the VH's will appear as you chose them. You can also select the game length and visibility, etc. I have been told that you need to select the game length and visibility a second time to make sure it 'sticks'

You can also edit any of the custom maps that come with the game in exactly the same manner, but again be wary of changing the nations.

Good luck
