http://www.geipelnet.com/war_albums/otto/ow_011.html The above is a URL to a photo diary of a PzJaeger trooper. It has about 60 pics on it and some of them are mind-blowing. Some have probably seen this site or some of the pics. It includes Russian kids washing German vehicles in the first advance of 1941, naked German soldiers washing equipment in the river, burnt T-34's (I mean, it isn't easy to figure out *what* that thing was!), and a T-34 with it's crew dead still inside. Also includes unreal mud photos (nasty) and photos of corpse piles and corpse wagons. I am struck by how I can look at these things in photos now and not be so shocked. I know in person it would be real unnerving. The scene of the dead T-34 crew was tough to look at. I think it's worth a look, especially to remind us that this is a game.

Totally unqualified quess: It does look like a 75mm PAK 42/L70 on a field carriage. The carriage looks much simpler than that of the PAK 40, and with square, welded, supports instead of round beams like the '40. But that must've been a VERY early example? And the prime use of PAK 42s were JagdPanzer IV, wasn't it?

A very interesting diary. Worth noting are Panzer I's rolling over the fields on the second day, June 23. Trainer tanks! Also interesting to see a captured T-34 (the one stuck in the mud)..

The breach area looks to simple for a late war gun more like a French 75, could this be a WWI German 77 on a field gun carrage. With a longer barrel????

It looks very likely that that the guns on pages 17 and 22 are the same. The wheels are definitely german, the mounting and shield look old fashioned. The gun itself is certainly not the french M1897, the characteristic long recoil system is lacking. Also the shield and limber is not the same as the AT-version of the M1897 shown here: http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~dpohara/birhac.htm It looks to me like some kind of old field gun.
