Playing as Japan in April of '43.

Hold Lunga, Gili, Dobodura, Buna, Woodlark, etc.

All the Allied AI does is run a bombardment TF to Lunga and either gets smacked by my air there or gets intercepted by my surface TF protecting.

It tries to ressuply PM and gets smacked by my air from Rabaul, Lae, and Wewak. I hold Gili, but the AI bombs it all the time so I'm not investing anything of value there. PM is out of supply and cannot run missions other than CAP from there.

VP's 14,000 for me. 7000 for AI.

Will it come after me or am I just going to be treading water till Dec 43?

It's lost every CV that it's thrown at me and I'm not even using "the ultimate power in the universe".

Not a rant or complaint, I'm ready to go defensive is all.

Perhaps I should try a scenario without the deathstar.

The Rebels have lost this round so I'd move on to Coruscant & leave the Deathstar behind as you'll only face the same over & over as the AI will send a CV TF at you when he happens to get one only to lose it in turn. You can always try to take Luganville or PM. In my time as the IJN I took all of NG then started to take Luganville until I saw by recon the AI put several divs there so was going to bypass & go directly to EPV or Koumac but just restarted another instead.

Okay, I have to go on the offensive for anything to really happen.

Well that would be inadvisable (knowing what forces inhabit the bases left to conquer) and considering I have double the VP's I'll consider this a victory.

I really thought the AI would at least try to make gains since historically the Allies took the initiative. Oh well, it's still a lot of fun. I'll try it again with no deathstar.

May the Force be with you.............

The USN AI is disgustingly easy to overcome. After about a week against the AI change to face-to-face and take a look at what a mess it has made of the Allied LBA. Bits and pieces of demoralized, exhausted sections of broken planes all over the place. I decided it wasn't worth the time to even rehearse an invasion of Australia/New Hebrides whatever against the AI. PBEM is really the only way to play but the invasion of one of the AV areas takes a good bit of coordination so if you wanna workout a timetable sorta thing set it up playing FTF. You can work out some of the eventualities too by running the invasion under various postulates like 1) Allies caught napping, 2) Allies reacting immediately, 3) Allies discovering the invasion fleet enroute, 4) Undetected Allies sailing into the middle of it enroute, etc. Since tactical control: targets, airstrike compostions and such are out of your control it doesn't even feel like cheating.
