Just interested to know everyones ideas on what to do regarding the Chinese theater ? Will the Japanese player be able to withdraw Air and Army units in this area and facing Russia and use them as reinforcements for the Southern Resource Area ?
Having played the UV scenario (cant remember the number) where the Japanese player has air and army units redeployed due the SRA as Russia is doing worse against Germany, these units can make an impact on the area.Any thoughts ?

China a mystery to me in WITP at the moment. Doomed Mantis will be sure to awaken me to the various details as his Japanese troops rip through the first couple hundred miles of Chinese territory.

China is a pain in the arse. It starts out in a real mess. You *must* move troops immediately to cure the shortage at certain bases. You can send the rest forward to fight the hordes of weak Chinese troops but once they get forward, they *must* rest to regain their strength before being thrown into the fight.

Each base you take must be held with troops to prevent rebellions that destroy the place. Each time you move forward, you effectively become weaker. Going too far means you become weak everywhere. Should this happen, those hordes can come out and dance on your grave. The whole thing is very dangerous and almost is an entire game by itself.

I have been toying with a North China strategy to cut off the supply sources there which should weaken the rest of China without me loosing too many troops in the process and not being too overextended.

You have *some* troops you can pull from the Russia front to assist, but they are not quality troops.

Remember that given time, Chinese troops become stronger. Somehow you need to keep them from becoming stronger without giving up your strength in the process. Meanwhile, you have to play the rest of the game

Two questions:
1. China is not a theater I am particularly interested in. I'm likely to put it on AI control - how effectively does the AI run the China theater (or any, for that matter)?

2. If I put China on AI control, will the AI take units (planes especially) from other theaters, or will it only utilize whatever units are present in China?

Zones are independant of each other. Each one controls all units within it's boundaries.

Don't knock China, it is a fair chunk of your resources. Because it is all land based action, things move slowly and you don't have to baby sit on a turn by turn basis. It is not that tough to run yourself. The strategy is the tough part because it includes your actions in Burma to close the back door.
