Eric I have tried d'loading the 1.10 patch 3 times...the first pop up screen indicates the DL should be 1.87MB I think, but when you start the DL it says onlt 1.78MB and when I try to unzip the finished product I get the follwing message in WinZip.."bad CRC 9f63a8cb (should be e158b6dd)". Any ideas???

Has anyone else had a problem downloading from this thread? Thanks.

Regards,

- Erik

I had no problems with either file. The patch fixed the crash I was having when selecting a ship in the ship list.

I download both patches and installed them. Now I can not turn off those irriating grid lines. I had them turned off on the three games I was playing. Now those games and any new ones I start have those lousy grid lines. The grid lines on/off switch no longer has any effect. Anyone got any ideas?

A little more info: The two lights (red/green) next to the grid lines on/off switch are also gone once I installed the patches. I hope this additonal info helps.

Please delete the wp.prfs file and reset your preferences. Normally takes care of any out of sync options.

A little more info: when I try to change the gridlines switch on/off, a message appears on the screen that says "changes will take place when the program is restarted."

I assume you are talking about the toggle that reads With hexes or without hexes.

You must exit the game and restart after toggling this option.

I have exited and restarted the game and the computer three times. I felt after three times I would post the issue on the forum. And yes grid lines = hexes or without hexes.

Thanks again Mr. Frag. I turned the computer off and left it off for five minutes: to ensure anything in the RAM would be deleted. Then I restarted the machine. This corrected the issue. Again I thank you. The more I read; the more I see helpful you are. Thanks!!!

No need to go that far, just exit and start the game again. Guess I should be careful saying restart

Someone asked this before but got no answer. I have had no problems with Tutorial or registering or anything. The game runs perfectly with no hangups, no sound problems, no CTDs.

Do I need to download the two patches and install them?

Yes, the patches also add new features ... a must to download. Ensure you run the right one first.

We will have an official patch release next week. That will contain a readme with the changes. The ones posted here are "only" quick interim updates for the holiday weekend.

WHen I play the combat simulation I still get CTD.
I guess it was only designed to fix other things
It takes over an hour to make a move, just to see it vaporize in a few seconds.

Welcome to the club! All this time invested, although with all the problems with the tutorial at least that works for me...or maybe i've just been lucky.

Any ideas on this -

I don't have Internet at home and of course the file size is slightly too big to save to floppy and transfer to home computer. Any suggestions as to what I can do to overcome this other than waiting and praying for all the patches to be released on CD (apart from getting Internet at home )

Regards,

Steven

Use any of the ZIP type programs to break the file up into multiple parts so it fits on floppies.

Do you have any firewalls running?

Assuming Internet Explorer, you probably have your Internet Security Zone set to high.

Pick Tools on the menu, then Internet Options, then Security tab.

With the Internet globe highlighted, click the default button.

That will relax the security settings.

Hi Frag,

I thought the file was already zipped to 1.78MB. Is it possible to ZIP it further?

Regards,

Steven

You are not really zipping it again, you are using one of the options in the zip tool to break it into multiple files. It will not compress further, but it *will* be broken up into multiple parts so you can fit it on a floppy. If you are unsure how, I can post it in smaller parts for you.

Sorry Frag not 100% sure what you mean. If possible could you elaborate?

Many thanks,

Steven

P.S. after saying my machine was ahunk of junk and may not run WiTP well I have decided to invest in a beast - AMD3200 2.8GHz, 1GB RAM, 120GB HD, 128MB ATi Radeon. Should be enough
