No, with 4 CV's. I wanted to draw KB away from the SRA.

(Sorry to take so long responding. Busy playing. )

I was referring to the Allied plans (early in the war when they were losing) to build super-massive carriers out of sawdust-enhanced ice. (I'm talking big enough to base squadrons of B-29's on. The scale comparison I saw made an Essex class carrier look like a bath toy.) The idea was that they would operate in the far north, allowing Allied attacks on and eventually invasion of the Home Islands despite all their naval losses. Apparently, in some bizarre experiment, a British gentleman discovered that if you mix sawdust with water before freezing it the resulting ice is very damage resistant and has a suprisingly high tensile strength.

Then the US started paving the Pacific with carriers and they realized they weren't quite that desparate.

(BTW, an idiot question. I keep seeing 'SRA' references. What does it stand for, please?)

SRA= Southern Resources Area. Basically Indonesia and all it's oil and mineral wealth.

Interesting info about the iceberg carriers. Never heard of that scheme before.

Thank you.

And 'KB' refers to the IJN task force that attacked Pearl Harbor. Basically the Japanese heavy carriers. Short for some version of "Mighty Sword" or some such nonsense in Japanese.

Thanks guys

I had a feeling it was related to the main Japanese carrier force, but wasn't sure.

Brilliant news, been wondering about OZ resources for years, odd that it took me four years to find this thread.
