I've been carefully hording up political points to transfer the 1st USMC division to Central Pacific. at 1800 points, just 200 shy of my goal, I find that my point total has been reduced to -562 (!). Is this a bug or could it be an effect of the computer running other theaters in the war. Or is it a random event simulating the political effects of beating Mrs. Roosevelt to death on the White House lawn?

My guess is the computer opted not to return some British ships and you paid the end of month PP penalty for keeping them in theatre when they were demanded elsewhere. Just a guess though.

Turns out you are dead right -- computer opted to keep 3 capital ships in the Indian Ocean, thus blowing all the PP.

Ouch. I'm rather glad I like playing with that part of the world.

It's not a bug the PPs can go negative. However, there is a bug that when you are negative you can still spend PPs and go more and more negative. I was in the negative thousands before i got tired of changing control of bases.

It's best if you see that the british need to withdraw ships you manage that manually even if that theatre is computer controlled. There is no way the AI is going to know if you want to keep them or send them back so it doesn't do anything. Some will argue it should but there is no way to win with that. Either players will be upset it sent back the best BB or upset that it kept it and they lost the points.

I have a somewhat related question. I have been playing scenario 2 and have been unable to move the (USAEF) or something like that anyway, the HQ where Doug MacArthur is running the show. It is a restricted HQ but I am not sure how to get the darn thing on a boat! Do you need to make it subordinate to another HQ which is not restricted? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think the computer should automatically adhere to the requests for ships when asked. If the player puts the British under computer control and that can cause them taking a 2000 pp hit, I do not think that is a good thing. If the British are under human control, then fine it is their decision, but the computer should not have a negative impact on the player's game for not following orders. Just my .02 cents.

You have an entire MONTH of time to get the requested units up to Karachi. If you manage to not get them there in that length of time, you pretty much deserve the PP loss. We are not talking about you getting a weeks notice and having to panic.

But following what orders? Putting the area on computer control doesn't mean a player wants to send the ships back. Every month the player should check for withdraws and manage that part.

All I am saying, is that if the British are set to computer control, then the computer should manage to send the required ships to karachi.

I haven't run into this yet, but how do you recieve notification to detach ships back to where they are being requested?

Hit your C key ... look down near the bottom ... British withdrawn requirements appear there. They will show up on the first of the month as stay until your send them the ships.

I would tend to agree with you Sundevil, and it would be fine for my own strategy. Buy you know that the George Patton's among us would get royally p1ssed off if the computer started retreating ships, "Stand and fight you cowardly bastards! Why are you heading for the Med! The battle is here! Waaaaaah! The computer stole my Battleship!"

It's easier to put the onus on the human player to send the ships home manually, than have him have to keep jumping over to SEAC, and making sure his RN doesn't get sent to the Med.
