It's partly exp ratings and partly lethal enemy proximity fused Flak!
Think they disrupted enemy CAP, cause the follow up attacks performed better.

Difficult to train sufficient high exp units as a single strike against an Uber CAP will wipe
out 4 months of work...

Tomorrow I have another surprise for the Allied terrorists

Hi man
It's quite clear that Okhas are useless, but as Japan you fight with what you got so you have to stay positive in the Oddball kind of way. So their uselessness might be a blessing in diguise. How? You use them solely for naval search which will allow you to shift some Emilys to night naval attack. I know, it hasn't been to successful so far, but at least we know it's possible to hit a ship at night. Anyway, it may force Andy to nightCAP his ships which will draw some Hellcats from the uberCAP.

Well, for now all Emily's have been sent on troop transport missions to try save Ceylon...also need subs among enemy cv's to
trigger night air attacks. Most of them are in the Home Islands or in repair yards

New turn in - sent the Taiho out to raid 3 unescorted convoys between Bonins and the PIs while Andy's cv's are busy.
18 Reppus and 60 of our best dive bombers were dispatched with an escort of 3 dds

Total carnage today as Andy force more troops into Ceylon without air cover and sails numerous
convoys past the Bonins - Marianas gap.

Most of our LBA takes of and I can't even count how many ships we sank
The rested and carefully re-trained LBA units struck from Pagan, Tinian, Saipan, Palau, Yap
and the Bonins while the brave Taiho drove in a pike from the North!

In Ceylon the Yorktown has withdrawn by a Frances gave her another torp!

Carnage in the Philippine Sea

The Taiho has to retreat as Andy will most likely try to hunt her with a few carriers.
Half her bombers are damaged and need some R&R as well.

I have sent more transport ac to reinforce Trimcomalee. Tomorrow Andy will attempt an all out
assault, so it's now or never. If we can grind him down he won't have the shipping to make another
attempt unless he brings another fleet and by then we will have checked him.

While all this continues we upgrade 16 new Shindens each day to reinforce the Home Island defenses
and build an impregnable wall in Manchukuo!

To attempt to invade the Phillipines while running his SLOCs right past Iwo Jima and Pagar is just insanity heaped upon insanity. Its absolutely crazy.

Well I'd say that was quite a robbery (we say a "hold-up" , that's the common French lexicon for the many victories we do not deserve that much ), and many French supporters see it this way anyway. Myself I don't see France going anywhere as long as they keep such awful shooters... At least there were more than a couple tries, and that was an entertaining show...

Saw what happened to the Aussie too - now that was an ugly match, with drunken Wallabies on a side, and Johnny Wilkinson playing alone on the other one - as usual, I'd say

I suppose everyone will be happy whoever wins the final fight in the end, as long as it's not South Africa

Well, after going all the way and invading the PI's without a nearby supply base, this is what Andy has to do - crazy or not.
That's pretty much the word I've been using quite frequently as well

Today the shock attack on Trimcomalee only achieved a 1-1 odds and he may be in trouble.
Not so in Clark - over 7800 AP there now No way to hold. Considering a retreat.

Not too many successes today - Andy gathered his convoys around his cv's!

Rugby, now there's a sport I have a b s o l u t e l y no clue about.
Is it a watersport

Now that's for your "watersport"

Yesterday Haka, with the French team getting closer than usual.

I think it helped destabilizing the NZs somewhat - last year their Haka was somewhat more impressive...

Doesn't it sound like a samourai sport Pzb?

Sorry Fish, I understand now! Rugby is like a Samurai gay club

Clark can no longer be held! 8000 enemy assault points lower forts from 7 to 3 in one attack.
We're pulling back to Bataan and the last stand.

It's a really, really close race in Trimcomalee. If Andy captures it large numbers of LBA will make
it impossible to save Ceylon and future invasions will be launched from here. For now it all hangs in the balance.
Can Andy keep on shock attacking until the forts are gone, or can we bring in enough reinforcements to stop him?

As Luzon falls to the Allies we will soon experience another storm upon Formosa and Okinawa.
August will be one heck of a month....

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 07/23/45

Air Combat

India

Another 50 transports were torched in Hyderabad today as 100+ B29s leveled the place:
The battle of attrition is starting to tell and while Andy can simply send in new hoards of men,
ships and material, we can only rely on the few brave defenders that are left.

The only good thing about fighting in India is that it's a self supplied theater far away from the
Home Islands.

The WASP also reinforced the enemy siege fleet of Trimcomalee today, making our job even more difficult.

Here's a blast to finish of the weekend; 3 enemy cv's torpedoed of Aparri!

The 2nd strike from Takao was the last. Moving the Air Fleet back to Okinawa.
Too dangerous to stay only 3 hexes from Luzon after the fall of Clark!

Trying to optimized defenses;
Only some 60-70 George and Jacks left awaiting for upgrade to Shinden.
Will keep 140 in Tokyo/Gumma district, another 40 in western Japan, 100 in Okinawa
and some 150 in Manchukuo. The latter will train on Shooting Red Stars and be an operational reserve.

Nice play PzB!

Regarding Luzon and last stand at Bataan. Do you have transport subs (I-36x)? perhaps it would be good idea to evacuate troops to Formosa, Ryu-Kyu or HI where these troops can boost your defence?

6-8 IJ transport subs can evacuate the whole regiment!

Don't think I have any I-36 subs...and never have had anyone? Checked lost subs list an came up empty.
Already evacuating the Southern Area Army and will attempt to pick up remnants from the major LCU units, but
that'll be it!

Gentlemen, 2 more weeks and the Red Fury breaks opon the Garrison in Manchukuo!
We have 17k AP and base units in all bases that are to be defended.

I have still not decided whether we should attack Okah in northern Sakhalin.
Secondly, I'm thinking about whether we should attack the Red Air Force or remain on the defensive while
attacking all Red LCU's viciously with all LBA available.

An option is to sweep Red bases with Franks and then send in our Bettys and Frances bombers from the Home Islands.
This will allow the Army medium bombers to hit enemy LCU. Shindens will create an impenetrable shield over our bases.

Another option is to create a bombardment force of the remaining units of the Combined Fleet.
With 3 battleships and 4 cruisers we could land a few heavy punches. The Taiho can provide CAP and sweep missions with
its 80 Reppus.

The Reds are in for it now

I have still not decided whether we should attack Okah in northern Sakhalin.
Secondly, I'm thinking about whether we should attack the Red Air Force or remain on the defensive while
attacking all Red LCU's viciously with all LBA available.

An option is to sweep Red bases with Franks and then send in our Bettys and Frances bombers from the Home Islands.
This will allow the Army medium bombers to hit enemy LCU. Shindens will create an impenetrable shield over our bases.

If you can't be any more ready than you are already, you'd better strike first, the sooner the better. Every single day you wait makes the Reds stronger...
If you strike now, you'll get the air initiative, while on the land, Andy will attack immediately and not wait for two additional weeks

Alternatively the soviet pilot pool will be freaking enormous by now so killing his pilots is pointless, while preserving your own
is critical and defensive air missions will cost you a LOT less pilots .

just my 2p

One thing you should keep in mind: the soviet fighter force is kind of defensive. Their fighters have a maximum range of 3, in case of La-7 only 2. Also the bombers have a limited range, the IL-2m3 has only 2, the level bombers have a maximum of 5 (6 for the Tu-2s). But their fighters can not escort them that far.

Appreciate the input guys!

There are so many "unknowns" regarding the upcoming campaign in Manchukuo that I'm hesitant to
activate anything based on such weak intel.

Everything I can do now, I can also do after Andy launches his attacks.
Without long range CAP his Armies will be out in the open for weeks and our Army and Navy Air Forces will
have bigger training camps than ever!

Will a Russian Army of 15k AP be able to fight an efficient offensive if bombed by 500 bombers each day for weeks?

We still have to measure the combat ability of Yaks and LA-7's.
Has anyone done any comparisons - are they equal to e.g. the Frank?

Does anyone know if the Soviets have paras and transport planes?

Here is a sneak preview of the next turn - a heroic deed by the RO-44!
Twice it attacked enemy shipping in the Philippine Sea and scored hits on 2 US cruisers.
Both times with its rear torp tubes!

Destruction a whole infantry division is just so-so thing in war time, it could be a national disaster in peacetime, though.

I found the soviet fighters of the latest generation have a similar performance vs. japanese fighters as P-38J or P-47C. So they are better than the Ki-84-Ic but about equal to the A7M2. A lot will depend on the pilot quality here, unfortunatly the first batch of soviet pilots will be of elite quality. So it is better to first let them die vs. your J7W before attacking the soviet bases by yourself.

The soviets have a lot of transport planes, but as far as I know no paratroopers.

Yes, the Soviets should have both paratroopers, amphib marines and a navy to fight with.
Think this is left out of WitP...unfortunately. Could have been fun to mash the Red Fleet

Hm, the more I think about it the more I favor a defensive campaign with an offensive Air Campaign.
If the LA-7 holds T-bolt standard I don't want to send my Betties there
Also, if the Red AF is short legged, we can simply CAP our bases and troops and the enemy medium bombers
will be shredded.

Still uncertain about Northern Sakhalin...

Have completed the strategic withdrawal of the 3rd Air Fleet from Formosa to Okinawas.
The number of Shindens is now high enough to deter most enemy strikes.

Well, sank is maybe not a 100% correct term - but you're pretty close
Here is another shot of the result of its demise! It was the biggest ship in the fleet it belonged to!

9 points for the one who can name this battleship!!
Come on, can't be that many bb's to choose from
