Still inside my newbie doubts...

Let's say that I have an enemy BASE 'A', a recent taken BASE 'B' and an allied BASE 'C'. And that between the 'A' and 'B' I have 'C' in the way, something like this:

'A'---------------'B' Note: the distance between one line = 1 hex
----------'C'

And I have a lot of supply TF incoming into 'B', but I haven't a CV TF nearby or any air-support in 'B', YET! So, in this situation 'A' is bombing the hell out of my shipping lines, what should I do?

I) Assign a CAP with Max.Reaction = 2, and hope that they will intercept the planes passing near 'C';
II) Assign a LRCAP of 'B' with MR = 2, and hope that they will protect that hex, plus around;
III) Assign a LRCAP over the incoming TF;
IV) Sweep 'A';

Why, those options? well, this is mainly cause my current doubt about CAP's and Reaction, leaving me with those questions:

a) A CAP with MR set above 0 means that the CAP will be over THAT HEX plus the area inside the MR?
b) A LRCAP with MR set above 0 means that the LRCAP will be over THAT HEX plus the area inside the MR?
c) A ESCORT with MR set above 0 means that this is the longest way that this squadron will go with the bombers?

Leaving me with a lot of others questions, like as example IF a) is true setting MR = 0, will increase the CAP concentration over the DH? or IF b) is true, what would be better, set the LRCAP in a HEX which is a between the 'A' and 'B' from the example above, hoping that they will intercept incoming crafts in their way in 'B' or out? Or should I set it over 'B'.

And finally, cause I don't want to open another thread the SWEEP mission, what exactly is it? It is a 'bait' mission or a 'CAP Attack' mission? Cause in the manual it states that it can draw the CAP out, so this mean that I can SWEEP a DH, and Bomb it without the escorts? Or SWEEP is a Fighter-Bomber mission, where it will strafe the ground, I'm still unclear, cause if it is the second option what is the difference from the simpler 'Bomb X' mission?

Thanks

a) The MR applies to the main Mission, the "secondary" Cap from eg a escort mission only covers the hex they are in.

b) Sort of yes but there is i) an additional check if they fly away from their base and ii) LRCAP range is restricted, i think it is a max of 2 hexes but not sure.

c) YES

depends on the altitude for sweep missions, if you are at 100 feet you will strafe ground
targets and shipping if no fighters are encountered.
if you are at 10,000 feet you will look for fighter aircraft to shoot up and probably not
attack ground troops and shipping.
a good tactic to help wear out fighter sqaudrons at a base you plan on shutting down
is to start sweeping the base ahead of you bombing missions.
set multiple altitudes on several sqdrns and wear down his defenses then escort bombers
with fresh fighters.
