I have been seeing an inordinate amount of Dutch search aircraft hitting CAP protected task forces around Java and Sumatra. Scenario 15, version 1.21, Japan vs Aliied AI (hard). Specifically, the Dutch patrol aircraft Do-24k2's have been hitting ships left and right during their patrol missions. Had four ships hit this past turn, anyone else see this or confirm an existing bug or is this a feature of Hard setting of AI? Have only seen this one type of aircraft do this, seeming ignoring CAP and AAA, these are not naval air attacks but recon/naval search missions. Thanks!

The Dutch are a scourge!!!! I have seen exactly what you are seeing. Plus their torp planes are a killer.
Look weird, but dang the hurt.

Seeing the same thing in a PBEM game. I have about 30 Nates set at 90% in Brunei, and shipped in some heavy AAA. Doesn't seem to effect the Dutch recce planes, if there are ships in the hex (docked at port) they will hit them.

I'm having the same problem in Kuching. It happens sometimes with B-17 and Catalinas but far too often with Do-24ks against very heavily defended ports. Some value somewhere in the calculations is messed up!

Thanks for the confirmations, I think something is up with these planes, maybe like the B-17's at high altitude scoring nearly 100% hits.

did you notice in database that Dorniers have durability 50 (it's more than Marauders and slightly less than B-17)

Nate is armed with 7.7mm MG only, penetration 1, effect 2

They can stop them only with ramming

Ok, you're right, they are overpowered though
Or maybe set naval search planes to avoid attacks on ports with certain amount of CAP and AA defense

In my game, my Dorniers attack all the time. I wasn't sure what they're attacking with. You mean they're actually dropping those torps when they say "Hikawa Maru... Reported Hit!"...???!!!

Cool.

And sweet even.

I figured the only way they carried torps, was if you switched 'em to night-attack, and made them like the Black Cats. I assumed the day patrol ones were just spitting out a message from a routine, that was more relevant to the SBDs/Vals dropping the little 100lb "toy bombs" as scouts.

So my Dorniers are actually launching torps on that message?

Wow.

Cool.

But yeah, that would be a little over-powered, I'd have to agree.

(* sigh *)

Which is a lot of bombs ... Odd that there is seemingly no extended load defined in the database though. Perhaps this is something to do with it.
