Disappearing CVL Bug

I'm playing japs in a campaign PBEM. We started with the original scenario and loaded the patch when it was available.

Sometime before patching I had the honor of putting the CVL Shoho into a task force just after she was launched. Now about 3 game weeks later...she has vanished without a trace.

So is this the old disappearing ship bug? Will all my new ships vanish or just the CVLs?

Is there a way to get vanished ships back?

Hmm.. This is not the same as the disappearing ship bug. The bug relates to accelerating construction on a ship and having its arrival date go negative. Not sure why / what happened. Check the ship screen for the Shoho and make sure she isn't just somewhere else.. this has happened alot in games started in v 1.00 and upgraded to 1.21. If you cannot find her, keep the save as Kid will probably want to see it..

Back before the exact cause of the "disappearing ships bug" was determined, I had this very thing happen to me. The culprit in that instance was the Junyo. She kept announcing her arrival and then about a month or maybe a little more, she finally showed up. However, about 2 weeks after she showed up I had placed her in an Air Combat TF and she disappeared sometime after sailing from Tokyo. I had captured the event with a save and sent it to Pry. I don't know if he was able to locate it exactly or not. I believe if I am not mistaken that it was before the patch, although I am not 100% sure now. Oh and she never returned to my knowledge.

Thanks all. The Shoho returned herself to Tokoyo unharmed. This leaves a TF short a CVL, but maybe the shakedown cruise was needed.

Very odd. I'll watch the Junyo when she comes out too....

What is the composition of the airgroup Shoho arrived with? What experience levels?

I imagine they are standard trained aircrew for the time period.

But I'll check.

I hope inexperinced air crew cannot cause the CVL to vanish.

No no, this is not as a possible cause for your problem; I'm simply curious. I haven't got that far yet, I keep starting over. All this futzing around vs the AI is just training for the main PBEM event (we're waiting for some things to be fixed).
