Great looking maps David. I couldn't help but notice the two hex size of Kwajalein. Does that mean we will no longer have the sudden death combat results like PW uses for the smaller objectives? I hope so, that would really make the amphibious landings a lot more realistic.

The Hawaiian Islands just look gorgeous, David. I'm curious though. I saw the screenshot of UV with hexagons on the land and roads indicated, so there will be land movement and combat possible outside of the given "bases". Will this apply to WitP? Is there going to be land movement and combat outside of the "bases" in the game? If so, how do you decide whether a given land hex could or couldn't be the location of a air/naval base? Are the bases in the game simply restricted to the historical ones? My only problem with you guys is you put UV in front of WitP. I've been waiting for a long time for WitP, and now its been booted down the priority list, meaning it could be months *after* the release of UV before WitP becomes real. Bummer. My thoughts exactly Ed - I want WITP NOW!!! The islands look great, obviously this will be a hex based map, area movement is gone. Lots of blue hexes on this map eh!?

If you look at the Atolls, you will see that they are a conglomeration of multiple numbers of small coral islands. They should probably behave much like PacWar, as, only a few of these islands were large enough to warrant construction of defences and airfields. They may look large, but, combat on them usually only lasts a few days, and casualties are usually high.

The truth of the matter is we wanted more time with WITP. Heck you should look just at the data base alone. Trust me everyone says do it right... I plan on doing just that... the map is only the first part of this. David

Great map of Kwajalein. Relative to the comment above, Kwajalein is the worlds largest lagoon, about 50 miles long, surrounded by Roi-Namur (twin atolls) and Kwajalein. Actually, there are 97 other islets that surround the lagoon. Hopefully, we gamers will now have to face the same problems the real commanders did. What is and is not defended and how heavily. And keep a substantial floating reserve to fix your screw-ups! Paul

Nice screenshots David, the location of Hilo on the big island of Hawaii is wrong. It is directly east of Kona. Svar
