Ok guys here's a question:

I do a full day's work. Not too hard but a desk job. I go home and after the girlfriend and eating I start to play around 9pm. But I keep falling asleep during the CPU processing of my second or third turn. Any of you guys have any advice in keeping awake?

Dont just sit there, go get something from the kitchen or something. I generally dont play more than two or 3 turns anyway, even though I have all day to do anything I want. Sometimes I will do a couple turns, and then go to my favorite boards for a bit and then come back and do a couple more turns.

Find a good book to read while the turn plays out.

"Catch 22" would be a good start....

Steve.

If i know it's going to be a late night, because i want to finish an invasion etc..., i always have a cup or two of espresso and a strong cigar before Witp. Next thing you know i've got dry-mouth and it's 2 AM.

I remember when Jolt first came out. My gaming group started drinking it because we ran all-night RPG sessions. I still remember all of us almost literally humming and vibrating enough to levitate after each of us had drunk most of a six-pack. *BZZZZZZZZ*

(Of course, this was back when they could get away with the slogan "Twice the sugar and caffinee of regular coke!")

Ask your GF to tell you "all about her day" while you're waiting for the turns. That way you can plan your next moves in your head while you nod your head and pretend you're interested. You stay awake and free points with the GF!

Moutain Dew is allways my first purchase when I´m in the US, I love this stuff.

While I can get Dr. Pepper here for an exorbitant price, it´s really hard to come by Moutain Dew.

Jolt, hmm, seen the advertisments, never tried it.

Humor threads??!! Guys, I was serious. I need to get past to 1942 before a patch comes out. At this rate I'm fighting the war literally a day per turn.

The worst thing is I play on my laptop and I get really lazy and lie down on the bed to play. Then I just lose consciousness and the next thing I know the laptop has burned my stomach.

This also leads to another question: what's the average number of turns you guys do a night?

Anyone remember this from The Simpsons?

Homer: "Give me a coke"

Street Vender: "no coke. Only Mountain Dew or crab juice"

Homer: "Eww, yuck!... give me a crab juice."
