hello there,

I'm planning to start a new Jap campaign against the AI after the patch 3 will be made available.

Is it still true that if i conquer China, the AI will be fried software and will never take initiative again?
Is this also true for PH, Suva, etc...

In short, will there still be things forbidden in order to keep the AI running?

If your looking for a better game (both historically and challenge wise) your best bet is too leave China pretty much alone. The AI does not know how to best handle the China theater as Allies and it will usually be fairly easy to encircle and destroy the bulk of the Chinese army

Well i had the impression that the AI gets lost in the whole map if something goes ahistorical in china.....

If i take suva or PH, will it kill the AI will to live?

I don't think the AI improvements in the patch will affect its lack of strategic capability. They are just addressed at specific problems like the "ship sacrifice" problem.

it's worst trait is that it does not realize when its in a no-win situation, such as being surrounded or cut off. It also will passively allow you to flank it and surround it. Once you enter the hex to begin destruction, it will often attack you, even if it's LCU's are out of supply, thus making your job even easier.

This is the primary source of all the complaining about "broken" land combat in China whenever a player steamrolls the giant. A smart human player is far harder to beat...assuming he can be beat. (in the traditional manner)

You can take Suva pretty easily... But try to take PH - I guarantee you'll lose the war by May 1942... There's just too much combat power there to overcome, and if you do manage somehow, you'll have given up conquests in the DEI where the oil is...

Pearl Harbor would require so much effort on the part of the Japanese to do, that it would IMO, shorten the war, not lengthen it.

The US can afford to lose everything (not including the fleet) at Oahu....the Japanese cannot afford to sacrifice the territories she went to war for in the first place, nor can she afford having her fleet half wrecked at war's start.
