This is totally off-topic, so forgive me. My wife and I have been struggling to make ends meet, but a promotion for Mrs. Gunny is just around the corner, and we are very happy about it. My wife is in the retail business, and will soon be promoted to store manager. This will give us a boost in income, and help us dig ourselves out of a major financial hole. She has worked very hard to get this, and I'm very proud of her. She will now be be making more money than me, but does that bother me? Hell, no! I'm locked-in to my position in state government, so the burden of upwards-mobility fell upon her. It will involve longer work-hours and increased responsibility to yours truly to keep the household in shape. All of this reinforces the notion that giving up my position as mod was the right thing to do. The moral is--hard work DOES pay off, as does persistance and belief in what you are doing. Here's to Mrs. Gunny, for working her way from the bottom of the retail food-chain to a managerial position. I consider myself a very lucky man.
