Hi guys
I Need a little help / some lateral thinking.

I want to make several scenarios that involve the use of only a small number of elite commando type personnel, say up to a dozen, however they must all be independent ie the icon must be a sniper.

The main problem of course is that when you have a scenario where only 1 man is rumbled by a squad, traditionally op fire will do away with your lone warrior almost immediately...not taking into account his wily skills as the best of the best etc!

I've tried messing around with the stats in the oob modifier and I've tried boosting morale, command etc...I've even tried adding armour! But I still end up with most of the men dead within the first few turns. Anyone got any ideas as to how to make solo units almost invincible?

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Hi Danny Boy.

Have a look at Wild Bill's Saving Private Ryan (086) in the editor to get some ideas. You might want to play it first to see how it works and then open it up in the editor to see how Wild Bill did it. Hope this helps.

If you make a unit with only one man in it, that unit can only use one weapons slot, I think.

Hi Kevin.

I just opened up WB's scenario in the editor and most of his single man units have two weapons--generally an M1 and grenades, although Sgt. Horvath is equipped with a bazooka in the first weapons slot and TWO M1s in the other slot (x2). He's a baaaad man in this scenario. As I recall, they can use both weapons.

However, in my experience in other scenarios such as with recon teams, I believe as they lose their men they lose weapons accordingly. I think that was what you were talking about, correct?

Sounds good.

Danny Boy, In looking at Wild Bill's 'Saving Private Ryan' scenario, Sgt. Horvath's numbers are almost all over 100. The only one I could see that was under 100 was artillery. I don't know if that helps when you are modifying your snipers.

One other thing--you might want to take a look at M4 Jess's Commando series of scenarios and his Commando Campaign. I believe you can download them at the Wargamer. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys,

I'm on it, a little more play testing....

One thing I have learnt, terrain plays a very large role.

Cheers!
