OK I know I have the manual and it is huge and a pain to read online but have a little patience...

I am on turn 30 or so of the August 41 to 46 scenario.

Anyway I have questions about supply. Supply is complicated to me.

Just a few quick questions please.

1. Do bases get automatically supplied from the HQ base? For instance I am only controlling Southeast area the rest are set to computer for the time being. Anyway does Lunga and PM get auto supplied from Nomea(sp) and Brisbane? Does not seem so, Aircraft take up huge supplies and it is hard keeping up with it. Sometimes I think I am playing Supply Tycoon...

2. Should I start creating big supply Task Forces from West Coast to supply these two bases? Including Australian Command?

3. With automatic supply button I added about 50 ships to it in Kerachi and San Fran. but they do not seem to be doing much. Or are they in the back ground like the old PacWar game?

4. Are barges good?

5. Are there any good player wrote tutorials on supply system for the game? Just the facts.

I know these may have been answered a thousand times but I can not get away from the game long enough to read the manual from cover to cover... Thanks

No. There will be some automatic movement of supplies over roads and rail-lines, but islands require that you form Transport TFs and ship supplies to them.

You mean you haven't already?!?! (Translation: Yes.)

Don't bother with the auto-convoy system. It will do things like take that convoy going from San Francisco to Pearl Harbor and route it via Osaka. It will also disband TFs that you create because it may want to use some of the ships in it, someday.

Allies don't get barges (IIRC). They are useful for what another poster called "ant trail supply". Basically a lot of barges, each carrying their cargos a small distance, where it is picked up by the next barge, etc.

Use the 'Search' function of the forum. A number of threads discuss logistics and supply in the game and are worth the effort to find.

Thanks Dtravler, I expected to get yelled at like many other forums about not posting lol.

Really helped a great deal. Supply is very confusing to me, for once the manual is overly wordy. :D Just never gets to the point, but I like it complicated I just had some myths I was creating all on my own...

Time to get those task forces moving I was shocked that SF Navy was just sitting there playing with the girlie's.

Oh and another question, it seems logical but just asking those with hours under the belt playing the best route...

Do you use like a Hub? Say Brisbane just swamp it with supplies and fuel from SF and LA and then move it to your bases from there? Or supply all bases with small task forces. I am just asking for those who have experience with the game.

Hi, I set up supply centers. I use larger ships to move supply/fuel from my main supply bases (SF and Karachi) and then smaller ships move between these centers and bases.
It is just easier for me to keep track of.

These centers are also the locatipn of HQ that provide replacements to units. Units that have been depleted in combat are moved here to rest and rebuild.
You will also find AR/AD/AS ships here repairing/upgrading ships. Since these other functions consume a lot of supply I just move the services to where the supply is.

Long Range heavy bombers will have bases close by.

So I use ports that can be built size 4 or larger out of enemy LBA range and that have airfields size 7 close by.

Thanks Mogami.

For some reason everytime I create a transport out of LA it changes its destination to SF... I am going to be hurting for supplies soon I think.

The secondary supply dumps I use are Pearl and then Noumea and Townsville in the early months and build Darwin with what you can steal from the DEI. Columbo and Tricomolee in the Indian Ocean

He has all but one area under computer control. I had to read his first post twice to catch it.

DO NOT USE ANY AREA UNDER COMPUTER CONTROL!!!!
DO NOT LET THE COMPUTER DO ANYTHING FOR YOU!!!!!!
DO NOT TRUST THE AI FOR ANYTHING!!!!!!

Learn to micromanage all aspects of the game at all times. Takes a little time, but you will soon find that it is quite easy.

You have now been warned.

Hee..hee. You can't even trust the AI as an worthy opponent in the long run either. Thats why PBEM is probably the best game experience. However, the AI is worth a training game or two against tho.
