IF leaders affect as much as is claimed, then pulling the current code out and building a entirely new model/approach would take a couple of orders of magnitude more effort than fixing even as difficult a bug as this one, based on my experience.

I say pull it and don't replace it. Hardwire everything that used to have to do with "leaders." All that would be left is cold, gray text announcing who leads what. You have no options, and it never changes.

While I understand the frustration, depending on how they did it even that may not be easy.
