OK, I just got the game on CD in a box and put it in the drive. Asked me for a serial #, which did not have. Called matrix and got through on second try - thankfully "Jim" gave me the 16 digits and I'm in. So, now what? Went to tutorial scenario, and can look at all the nice units, but no idea what to do. Is there supposed to be a manual with this thing? Or computer tutorial? Cause whatever, I'm not getting it, and not sure I can nuke this out through look and learn. Feeling bereft of game support/regretting purchase. :-(

You can either look in the install directory or on the start menu to find the manuals. There are two of them, both in PDF format. One is the main manual and is over 200 pages. It comes in a couple of versions, one for printing and one for ebook. If you have a laser printer I recommend printing it out. Some people have gone to Kinko's, etc. The other manual is the tutorial manual. Definitely print that one out, then follow it through the tutorial. Color printing is not necessary.

If you have played games like this before getting started will be easier. The learning curve is steep at first, but you will catch on more quickly than it might seem. I suggest that you:

1) Skim the manual.
2) Follow the tutorial manual through the tutorial. Do this as many times as you want to. Try some different things to see how they work.
3) Read the manual, cover to cover.
4) Start playing.
5) After playing for a week or two, read the manual again.

Doing searches on this forum for help on specific questions is a good idea too.

There is a manual of some 220 pages and a tutorial. Assuming you've got windows go to the Matrix games folder and open the War in the Pacific, First of all make sure that you are patched to version 1.40. Do the full tutorial, read the manual and come here and ask all the questions you want you will get answers. Welcome Aboard!
