I was wondering
Could this game, rated for experts at the matrix site, be played and enjoyed by someone-that's me- with almost no experience at wargaming?(2or3times east front and TOAW.)
Is there anything I could read in preparation before the game is there?
I found the original EIA rules but don't know how close this computerversion follows the rules of the boardgame
Thanks
Graf

Like all things if you are willing to learn, then nothing is to hard

I have never played EiA in its' board game incarnation, and at times have felt lost when all of the EiA gamers start citing specific rules ect....but this is a game that I cannot wait to get my hands on and learn to play!

EiA, though a complex game, is primarily a diplomatic one. Also, while actual combat isn't simple at all, evaluating an opponent's strength is simple mathematics (i.e. adding up factors and economic/manpower strength). If you have an ally that can help you through the technical details, you can just macro manage your way to victory.

Read up this page. It's basic info about good playing in any multiplayer games, and being aware of these things is essentially what you need to know to be competitive. Knowing your strength and your opponent's.

I always thought that the hardest part of the game was all of the record keeping. I think with the computer handling that part, it will be a lot easier to play. (But not necessarily to win

The economic phase is indeed much easier to handle... Supply costs, forraging and battle losses are also very easy to manage. The interface is very streamlined and quite intuitive to use.

Here are the original rules, but besides the rules you need the combat tables and the victory condition tables, Order of Battle for each country, economy sheets, etc...but pretty much is here.

http://eia.xnetz.com/

But there are many webs just type "Empires in arms" with both " included.

Good luck!

P.D. The CEiA takes away many work about recording information and helps you to play, also you dont have to look up the chit tables in combats, roll dice and look up cross tables with the chits etc...

I just found a great place with many info about the original game,
beware of 2 version, one original Australian version and then the Avalon Hill final version, I think only the bookcase and some rules change, not sure, I only have the AH version.

Enjoy!

A game that you may want to look at playing before EiA is released is Europa Universallis. I was introduced to this game this past fall and have fallen in love with it. I have played the EiA board game from AH and find that EU has some game play that can help prepare you for the kind of thought that goes into playing EiA.
Hope this helps

I agree with Rambo. I play EU and EUII because of the way territories are handled. You can add them to your country or ally with them and such.

I don't find the operational possibilities chart and the combat resolution chart-both on the game card of the EIA game.
Anyone has a link?
Thanks

Try this one. An excellent site with all tables and rules.
