Sir,

Sir, We found the Repulse and other surface combatants at Menado! You have been wanting to know where Force Z is.

Central Pacific:

Sir, the commander of the Fourth Fleet has recalled all submarine to Kwajalein. The risk presented to them is not worth the intelligence at this time. This way they will be able to support operation Shimizu-B. No further attacks on our submarines have been reported.

South Pacific

The First Carrier striking fleet was sighted east of AU today. All appears to be going as planned. The invasion forces sail today from Truk today for both AU and AN. Operation Kora-A appears to be on track.

Philippines

The ABDA force continue to try and interfere with our operations in the Southern Philippines. The Repulse and escorting vessels were spotted at Medano. Betties and Nells operating out of our bases on Jolo report putting seven torpedoes into the Repulse and she was reported sliding beneath the waves.

The Sasebo 2nd SNLF, the 23rd NLF and the 21st Special base force are boarding ships at Palau and will sail within 24 hours. Task force 6 will provide bombadment/surface coverage while the 3rd Daitai can provide air cover. This operation can begin when the 3rd Daitai can remove the threat posed by the remnants of force Z.

Malay

The 5th Divisions shock attack at Malacca failed with heavy losses. The attack on Singapore will now be delayed reinforcements can arrive. In the meantime, aircraft have been ordered to strike the defenders of Malacca.

Our Airbase on Khota Bharu was raided by British forces out of Singapore, four aircraft were destroyed on the ground. Our counterstrike from Saigon, met heavy AAA and took 4 losses for some damage to the Airfield. These losses to Flak are becoming an concern to the staff. All future bombing missions will go in at 11000 feet or higher.

Burma

15th Army commander did not wait for approval to begin executing his plan for Moulmein. He managed to get the 33rd Division to advance 120 miles in a single day. This movement (although unrealistic) has left the 55th Division behind. If this operation is successful it has the potential to shorten the war in Burma.

China

The P-40s were back today and were unable to inflict heavy losses on our forces. The Army has withdrawn it’s A/C until better A/C can be deployed. We may yet have to deploy a group of Zeros to counter this threat. The 11th Army reports that it should be arrive at Changsha within 48 hours and begin a reduction of the Chinese forces there.

Sir,

Central Pacific:

The only operation planned or ongoing is the 5th NLF’s occupation of Nauru, which was successfully completed today.

South Pacific

The First Carrier striking fleet will swing by Port Moresby on its way to cover the landings at Rabaul. Submarine reconnaissance reports that the Shortlands and Lunga are not garrisoned. The forces headed to AN will divert to Luana, codenamed UN and accelerate the occupation of the Solomon Islands. The invasion of AU is expected to begin in 48 hours.

Philippines

The ABDA force remain at Medano. Betties and Nells operating out of our bases on Jolo were unable to launch due to the weather. They will try again in the morning.

The Sasebo 2nd SNLF, the 23rd NLF and the 21st Special base force have sailed from Palau enroute to Medano. If the Allied surface forces remain, the invasion fleet will divert to Davao and await developments. Task force 6 will provide bombadment/surface coverage while the 3rd Daitai will provide air cover.

On the Island of Luzon, the 1st Kure SNLF is marching on Lamon Bay, with the objective of protecting the Flank of the 16th Division which has laid siege to Manila. 14th Army is massing at Lingayen, with orders to advance on Clark Field with 2 Divisions and 1 Brigade. The 14th Army’s request for the release of the 38th Division from reserve has been approved. This makes the current army commitment to the Philippine operation 4 Divisions, 2 Brigades and supporting forces.

Malay

Malay was quiet today while the 25th Army brought up reinforcements to Malacca. The operation to take Malacca will resume in the morning. The Army aircraft at Khota Bharu will provide ground support for this operation

Burma

The 15th Army commander’s operation to occupy Moulmein remains on track. He managed to get the 33rd Division is within 12 miles of cutting off the British retreat path. The 55th Division should arrive in Moulmein within 48 hours.

China

The First Army reports that having secured its supply lines, it has redeployed to capture Yemen. It plans on launching an assault in the morning with the objective of securing the resources and industry at Yemen for Japan. The First Army reports that this attack will consist of five divisions and two Brigades with an Artillery regiment in support.

At the same time the 11th Army reports that it is prepared to launch an attack to begin to reduce the fortifications at Changsha with a force of seven divisions and two brigades. The hope is to deny the use of Airfields to the Chinese that the American mercenaries have been using to great effect. It is estimated that the operation will take a week to complete.

Just note to the readers, I have fallen behind due to the fact that Thayne and I are both off for the long weekend and have averaging multiple turns a day. On top of that my son was sick and I had to take care of him. I hope to catch back up (Its a never ending cycle) by the end of today.

Sir,

The Army won decisive victories in China today. These operations if they remain successful will enable the army to begin utilizing the rail line to Indochina.

Central Pacific:

Airbase construction continues at Tarawa.

South Pacific

The First Carrier striking fleet is in position to cover the landings at AU. The AU invasion forces will hit the beach today. The forces that were headed to AN have diverted to Luana, codenamed UN, while follow on forces have board troop transports at Truk and will occupy AN and the Shortlands, codenamed HD. Task force 19 will begin Kora-A with a bombardment of AU. Reports will follow as the situation develops.

Philippines

The ABDA force remains at Medano. Betties and Nells operating out of our bases on Jolo were again unable to launch due to the weather. They will try again in the morning.

The Medano invasion force has diverted to Davao. This operation is on hold until the Allied surface forces are dealt with. Task force 6 is readying to sail and engage the enemy and if able bombard the airfield.

On the Island of Luzon, the 1st Kure SNLF will attack Lamon Bay today, and the 16th Division will continue to siege Manila. 14th Army continues to mass at Lingayen, with orders to advance on Clark Field with 2 Divisions and 1 Brigade. The 14th Army’s currently plans to deploy the 38th Division to aid the assault on Clark Field. The 38th's ETA at Lingayen is 72 hours, as they will complete boarding the transports at Hong Kong in the morning.

Malay

The 25th Army was repulsed again with heavy losses at Malacca. This attack failed due to the lack of air support for the third day. Commanders heads will roll over this! The 25th Army reports that more reinforcements are enroute and they will try again after successful airstrikes have been carried out.

Our Carrier Task force reports that it is still tracking the ships fleeing Singapore. They will attempt to intercept them again tomorrow. They must break off the pursuit in the morning to get into position to support the planned invasion of Tarkan.

Burma

The 33rd Division is within 1 mile of cutting off the British retreat path from Moulmein, however surprise has been lost and the British are withdrawing. The 55th Division should arrive in Moulmein to occupy the abandoned British positions within 24 hours.

China

The First Army and 11th Armies attacks went better than possibility hoped for. Both Yemen and Changsha were captured. At Changsha, a squadron of Chinese bombers along with part of the American mercenary group, were captured. Interrogations reveal that these pilots are part of an American Volunteer Group that is operating in China on behalf of the Nationalists.

Sir,

Central Pacific:

Airbase construction continues at Tarawa.

South Pacific

The First Carrier striking fleet continues cover the landings at AU. The AU invasion forces are ashore and will attack in attempt to secure the city tonight. All operations remain on track. Reports will follow as the situation develops.

Philippines

The ABDA force have withdrawn to Kendari. This places them out of reach of the Betties and Nells operating out of our bases on Jolo. Task force 6 is going to test the waters by bombarding Medano. If they are unopposed, the invasion force will sail from Davao.

The Dutch Air Force has not left operations on Medano however. They launched a raid on the airfield at Davao, destroying 1 zero and 4 betties on the ground. It is hoped that Task Force 6 will remind the Dutch that the Empire is not to be interfered with!

On the Island of Luzon, the 1st Kure SNLF’s attack at Lamon Bay was repulsed and they will try again tonight. The 16th Division continues to siege Manila. 14th Army reports they are advancing on Clark Field with 2 Divisions and 1 Brigade. The 4th Division, fresh from the homeland is in the lead. The 14th Army’s currently plans to deploy the 38th Division to aid the assault on Clark Field. The 38th's ETA at Lingayen is 24 hours, as they will complete boarding the transports at Hong Kong in the morning.

Military intelligence is studying the American defensive arrangements on Luzon in effort to detect a weakness. It is hoped that the American defenses can be defeated piecemeal and not in one huge battle.

Malay

Massive air strikes were launched on Malacca today, inflicting heavy losses on the British defenders. The 25th Army will attempt a third assault of Malacca. The 25th Army reports that more reinforcements are arrived (Currently have 2 Divisions, one brigade, 2 engineering regiments, 2 artillery regiments, and an armored regiment engaged) and they are hoping for successfully coordinated air strikes.

Our Carrier Task force reports that it caught and attacked the ships fleeing Singapore. They report sinking a damaged tanker and a D class British light crusier. Ship identification is ongoing. Our Carriers (Baby KB) are retiring to resupply before supporting the planned invasion of Tarkan.

Burma

The 33rd Division’s commander reports difficulty in crossing the river and he has not yet arrive on the British retreat path (60 miles moved according to the screen but no hex change) The 55th Division reports no resistance to Moulmein and will occupy it forthright. All remains on track.

China

The 11th Army reports that it received bad intelligence as to where the Chinese retreated to after the fall of Changsha. As a result they have been lured out of Changsha and into the plains, this leaves only the 11th Army reserve to hold Changsha. The First Army has detached two divisions to hold Yenen and is redeploying its remaining forces to attack Homan.

Can't understand how you took Changsha and Yenen in the same day. Are you playing v1.4 or former versions ?

The only possibility I saw to explain your success was that Chinese force actually retreated before the assault. The Chinese troops starting in these bases should have been powerful enough to stop or at least resist one day to the troops you sent in.

Sir,

Central Pacific:

Airbase construction continues at Tarawa.

South Pacific

The First Carrier striking fleet continues cover the landings at AU. The AU invasion forces were repulsed by the defenders, there is a level 3 fort that must be reduced. The reserve forces are boarding ships in Truk to sail toward AU for support. Ground commander has requested ground support and Nagamo will provide support utilizing the Kates off of his carriers. The attack will continue after 24 hours for the ground commander to reorganize his forces.

Philippines

The ABDA force remains at Kendari. Task force 6 successfully bombarded Medano, destroying 16 aircraft on the ground. However, the counterstrike from Medano was met by 18 zeros and all but one attacking aircraft was shot down. However, that remaining aircraft still managed to hit the refueling area of the airfield and 1 zero and 1 betty were destroyed. The Medano invasion force arrive at Davao tonight refuel and sail tomorrow evening.

On the Island of Luzon, the 1st Kure SNLF’s attack at Lamon Bay was repulsed again and they have settled into a siege. The 16th Division continues to siege Manila. 14th Army reports they are advancing on Clark Field with 2 Divisions and 1 Brigade. The 4th Division, fresh from the homeland remains in the lead.

Military intelligence believes that the 16th and 38th Divisions combined can occupy Manila and if the 14th Army is sieging Clark Field the defenders of Manila may surrender. Therefore, the 38th's destination has changed, from Lingayen to Naga from which they will march to join the 16th Division outside Manila.

Malay

Massive air strikes were launched on Malacca today, inflicting heavy losses on the British defenders. The 25th Army launched a coordinated assault of Malacca that succeeded in forcing the British to retreat. The 25th Army reports that after a week, Malacca is finally in its control. The 25th's leading forces have already begun pursuit of the retiring forces.

Burma

The 33rd Division’s commander reports he is in position to attack the British forces north of Moulmein. He intends to launch a probing attack and then depending on the result further attacks will be planned. The 55th Division continues to report no resistance on its march to Moulmein and will occupy it forthright. All remains on track.

China

The 11th Army is retracing its steps to Changsha and will resume its advance once it has returned to Changsha. The first army continues to redeploy and expects to resume operations in 10 days.

That's a good question, as we are playing 1.4. It surprised me as much as it did you. The purpose of both attacks were just to reduce forts as there were engineering regiments supporting both operations, and I was expecting the operation to take weeks. I don't know if Thanye pulled forces back or not. I do not intend to take China out, however.

Sir,

With the exception of the fall of Medano and Cagayan it was a quiet day.

Central Pacific:

Airbase construction continues at Tarawa. Due to a lack of escort vessels the occupation of Baker Island must be put on hold for now. When the correct escorts become available the operation will resume.

South Pacific

The First Carrier Striking force is almost to Truk for resupply and the detachment of the Kaga for a refit (SYS Dam 11, never been hit and only flanked on the 8th) before heading back to the Central Pacific to cover the occupation of Baker island. The reserve forces not needed at AU have landed at Lunga and Kavieng, with the Admiralties and the Shortlands due to be invaded tomorrow. These landings plus the landings at Lunga will complete operation Kora-A. Overall, the operation has been a success so far.

Philippines

Our invasion troops at Medano were successful in taking the base taking 3000 prisoners in the process. The Tarakan covering force bombarded Tarakan today inflicting 400 plus losses on the defenders. Ground strikes by aircraft out of Jolo are expected at Tarakan today. The invasion force continues to gather at Jolo in preparation for the invasion. The invasion force is awaiting the arrival of the 2nd Kure SNLF and 21 NLF which are expected in 5 days.

On the Island of Luzon, everything remains static. The 38th Division was delay because of a course diversion to avoid potential submarine activity. It should arrive at Naga today and begin unloading.

On the Island of Mindanao, the 56th Brigade’s assault Cagayan was successful. All remaining defenders on Mindanao has retreated to Butuan. The 56th is in pursuit.

Malay

The 25th Army reports the general advance on Johore Bharu continues well. Army Aviation at Khota Bharu did not launch yesterday due to weather but will attempt to strike the airfields at Singapore in an effort to suppress counter strikes.

We have lost contact with the ABDA cruiser force. All units are advised to be on alert.

Burma

The 55th arrived at the same location that the 33rd was forced to retreat from. The 33rd is late in arriving however, so the 55th is planning on digging in expecting an attack from the British. Ground Strikes by both Sonias and Betties have been ordered as a further safeguard. No further advance is expected until the 33rd arrives.

China

Airbase construction continues at Tarawa. Due to a lack of escort vessels the occupation of Baker Island must be put on hold for now. When the correct escorts become available the operation will resume.

South Pacific

The First Carrier Striking force has arrived at Truk for resupply and the Kaga detached. It will head back to the Central Pacific to port at Makin to cover the occupation of Baker island. The reserve forces not needed at AU have captured Lunga and Kavieng, and invaded the Admiralties and the Shortlands due to be invaded tomorrow. Overall, KORA-A remains a success.

Philippines

Our invasion force remains at Medano unloading supplies and engineering forces to establish use of the airfield. This force was struck by repeated air strikes from the Dutch and Australians. The 3rd Daitai was flying cap overhead and shot down 7 Martins, 1 Demon, 1 Hudson with an additional two Martins and 2 Hudson going down to flak. They managed to hit two cruisers of the covering force but no damage was inflicted. Ground strikes by aircraft out of Jolo hit Tarakan today, these will continue to soften up the area for an invasion. The invasion force continues to gather at Jolo in preparation for the invasion. The invasion force is awaiting the arrival of the 2nd Kure SNLF and 21 NLF which are expected in 4 days.

On the Island of Luzon, everything remains static. The 38th Division has begun unloading at Naga and when completely off the transports and it arrives at Manila operations will resume.

On the Island of Mindanao, the 56th Brigade’s continues to advance on Butuan.

Malay

The 25th Army reports the general advance on Johore Bharu continues well. With the lead elements of the Army arriving today. It is expected that enough elements will have arrived by tomorrow that operations to reduce this string point can begin. Army Aviation at Khota Bharu launched yesterday on the Singapore airfields. The escorts shot down two buffalos while losing 2 Lilies to the CAP. The strike destroyed 6 Blenheim IV, 4 Hudsons and two Buffalos.

We have lost contact with the ABDA cruiser force. All units are advised to be on alert.

Burma

Ground support operations were flown in support of the 55th and two Sonias were lost. However, the support was required because the 55th was attacked just like the 33rd was. However, this time the 15th Army was prepared and inflicted 500 losses on the enemy while suffering only 30 in return. No offensive operations are planned until the 33rd rejoins.

China

The 23rd Army reports being struck by airstrikes in their attempt to withdraw to Canton. They continue to pull back with disengagement completed successfully today.

Maybe Allied players are just too used to lose Chinese cities. I started a PBEM last month and date is now 25th Dec 1941. Home rule is that every hex of rail and road used by Japanese should be garrisonned by at 15 ASS strenght. I use Mongol Cav Div to do this but still had to keep most of the IJA Brigades and several divisions on the rear, especially before the last Cav Div arrive from Manchoukuo.

Anyway, I had 4 spare Div (and support units) and send them to Yenen to stop the factories. I attacked twice days in a row after ten days of bombing and managed to destroy one fort level on the first day but nothing on the second. I was planning to retreat... and then decided just to remain there to continue to shut down the factories. Two days later Chinese forces retired from the city and I took it !

The rule I am using is for every 20 ASS above the garrison requirement, one hex out on the rails is considered patroled, up to a max range of three hexs. I do this because the game won't let me break down the units enough.

15th Army has requested that the 21st Division be released to commence operations in Burma. This request has been granted and Naval forces will deploy to Northern Indochina to make up the gap.

21st Div is assigned to Southern Area Army. Unless you paid the 3,000 odd PPs to transfer it (doubtful). Personally, if I was playing in non-gamey mode I would only use ground forces in Burma that were attached to Burma Area Army ...

Just an idea :)

As I understand the Army-Navy situation, they would offer their own plans, and did not want the Navy to get credit for doing anything well, but wanted the navy to get the blame when things went wrong. They would offen withold forces from Navy operations until they got something they wanted in return. If anyone knows more please feel free to post

Sir,

Central Pacific:

Airbase construction continues at Tarawa. The First Carrier fleet has been reassigned to support operations in the Central Pacific. With the capture of Rabaul, most operations in the South Pacific can now be successfully supported by LBA.

South Pacific

The reserve forces not needed at AU have captured the Admiralties and the Shortlands. This completes operation KORA-A which was a success. Further operations in the South Pacific are on hold until our recently occupied positions are secured.

Philippines

Our invasion force departed Medano after having unloaded supplies and engineering forces to establish use of the airfield. Due to the extensive damage suffered by the base it is estimated that the airfield will not be operational for at least a week, if not two. The Tarkan invasion force continues to gather at Jolo in preparation for the invasion. The invasion force is awaiting the arrival of the 2nd Kure SNLF and 21 NLF which are expected in 4 days. The Medano covering force will provide additional bombardment support to the Tarkan invasion.

On the Island of Luzon, everything remains static. The 38th Division continues unloading at Naga and when it arrives at Manila operations will resume. The 4th Division arrived at the outskirts of Clark Field today, However the rest of the 14th Army which was to closely follow the 4th is not expected to arrive for another 48 hours. This leaves the 4th Vunerable to the same fate that the 33rd suffered in Burma. These mistakes are unacceptable!

On the Island of Mindanao, the 56th Brigade’s continues to advance on Butuan.

Malay

The 25th Army reports the general advance on Johore Bharu continues well. Most elements of the 25th Army have arrived. Operations to reduce this string point are beginning. Army Aviation at Khota Bharu has switched operations to support of the ground advance.

We have lost contact with the ABDA cruiser force. All units are advised to be on alert.

Burma

Ground support operations were planned in support of the 55th. The 15th Army reports that the forces opposing it have withdrawn and they are awaiting the arrival of the 33rd before continuing. No offensive operations are planned until the 33rd rejoins.

China

The 11th Army reports almost being ready to drive on Hengchow, with the march expected to begin within 48 hours. The purpose of this drive is to link up with the 23rd Army and finish securing the rail line into Indochina

Sir,

Airbase construction continues at Tarawa. The First Carrier fleet has sailed to Makin to support operations in the Central Pacific. Otherwise everything remains on track.

South Pacific

On the Island of Luzon, everything remains static. The 38th Division completed unloading at Naga and will begin to march on Manila today. Once it arrives operations will resume. The 4th Division remains unsupported but was not attacked at the outskirts of Clark Field, However the rest of the 14th Army which was to closely follow the 4th is now expected to arrive in 24 hours. This leaves the 4th vulnerable to the same fate that the 33rd suffered in Burma. These mistakes are unacceptable!

On the Island of Mindanao, the 56th Brigade’s continues to advance on Butuan.

Malay

The 25th Army reports that a probing attack was launched at Johore Bharu today. The operation was to determine the extent of the Allied defenses. The commander of the Imperial Guard Division reported not encountering significant resistance until reaching the causeway to Singapore itself. This is a major victory! Army Aviation at Khota Bharu will be retargeted to attack the defensive positions on the Island of Singapore itself.

We have lost contact with the ABDA cruiser force. All units are advised to be on alert.

Burma

Naval air forces that had been providing ground support operations in support of the 55th did not get the message that the enemy had withdrawn and flew strikes anyway 3 betties and 2 zeros failed to return and their pilots lost. The 55th has been joined by the 33rd and they are advancing toward Rangoon.

China

The 11th Army reports that its general advance will begin in the next 24 hours and they hope to arrive at Hengchow in 72.

Sir,

Everything remains on track for current operations with the planning beginning for the start of the next phase of our advance.

Central Pacific

The carrier striking fleet remains enroute to Makin where tankers and other fleet support vessels are gathering. Nagumo’s orders are to remain at Makin unless a target of opportunity presents itself. If it does, he will sortie on short notice. In the meantime, the planned occupation of Baker Island is on schedule for early February.

South Pacific

The first group of Zero fighters arrived at Rabaul to begin flying combat air patrol. Once the airfield has be expanded to support Betties, two groups will be withdrawn from the Southern Resource Area for operations in the South Pacific. The long term planning for an invasion of Port Moresby has begun. This operation will require forces currently engaged in the Philippines, and so cannot be executed until the Philippines are secure.

Philippines/DEI

All remains on track, with the 14th Army arriving at Clark Field. Bombardment operations will commence in the morning. The 1st Kure SNLF has orders to attack the Philippine defenders at Lamon Bay. The Tarkan invasion fleet will finish assembling at Jolo within the next 24 hours and the commander reports that he will sail as soon as the fleet is assembled.

Malay

The 25th Army reports leaving a reserve force (4th Mixed Rgt, 21 Mixed Brigade, 23 Mixed Brigade) at Johore Bahru. The 4 and 23 will remain at Johore while the 21st secures Mersing before transitioning into the reserve. The remainder of the 25th Army will advance on the island of Singapore. Ground attacks are planned.

Burma

The 15th Army is advancing on Rangoon. The plan is that the 33rd Division to act as a reserve while the 55th secures the town. This operation is expected to commence on the 8th.

China

The 11th and 13th Armies began their advance on Hengchow today. This operation serves three main objectives: 1) Clear the rails to Indochina; 2) Link up with the 23rd Army in Canton and 3) deny the AVG airbases to operate from. The 11th and 13th expect to arrive NLT 7 Jan.

Sir,

Everything remains on track for current operations with the planning beginning for the start of the next phase of our advance.

Central Pacific

Nagumo reports that he has enough fuel to hit Canton island without meeting the tankers first. He has set flank speed and will arrive off Canton in 48 hours. All aircraft are armed and ready to go. The only targets to be struck are ships, land targets are to be ignored. The results of this raid will impact the planning for the occupation of Baker Island.

South Pacific

All remains quiet in the South Pacific. An invasion force has sailed for Lea on the Northern New Guinea. Its ETA is 15 Jan.

Philippines/DEI

The defenders of Manila were forced from their fortified positions today, however they continue to resist in the town itself. The forces involved will wait 24 hours for artillery support and then resume the attack. 14th Army Bombardment operations continue at Clark Field. The Tarkan invasion fleet lands tonight with a preparatory bombardment.

Malay

The 21st mixed brigade reports that Mersing is secured. The 22nd Indian Brigade and 105 RAF Base force were forced into captivity. The 25th Army commander wants one more day of softening operations before launching a probing assault.

Burma

The 15th Army is advancing on Rangoon, with the 55th Division expected to arrive within 24 hours. Intellegence reports that the town is only lightly defended as the defenders of Burma have pulled back to defend the Burma road. Once Rangoon is secured, the 15ht Army is awaiting the arrival of the armored assets currently supporting the operations at Singapore. Once Singapore falls, these forces will be reassigned to the Burma Army for operations. The plan remains for the 33rd Division to act as a reserve while the 55th secures the town. This operation is expected to commence on the 8th.

China

Leading elements of 11th and 13th Armies arrived at Hengchow, they will bombard the town today and attack on the 8th. This operation serves three main objectives: 1) Clear the rails to Indochina; 2) Link up with the 23rd Army in Canton and 3) deny the AVG airbases to operate from. Sir,

Here is first three phases of the plan for the occupation of Sumatra and Java. First of all Sumatra will be a naval operation, while Java has been assigned to the Army.

(A) Port of Embarkation of the invasion fleets. The Sumatra invasion force consists of three Naval Garrison units (15th, 16th, 81st), four SNLF(Kainan Guard, Ikaiei, Yokosuka 4th, Sasebo 8th) and support forces. The Java Force consists of 2 divisions (2nd, 21st), three brigades (4th,21st,35th) and attached support forces.
(B)Fleet transporting the 2nd Yokosuka and 1st Parachute Rgt to Kuching
(C)Kuching base from which the airborne assaults on D and E will be launched from.
(D)Jambi – to be secured by (2nd Yokosuka) paratroopers before the Naval forces arrive
(E)Merak – To be secured by (1st Para) paratroopers before the army arrives

Phase I consists of securing Jambi

Phase II consists of an overland march on Palembang and the securing of Merak by Paratroops

Phase III consists of the occupation of both Batavia and Palembang.

Staff comments are required before 14 Jan (4 turns from now – approx two days).

Capt Kora
