Hi all!

Lately I created a mod that shows accurate contour lines on a RTS map!

I cannot tell you how satisfying it is to *really* understand the lay of the land without fiddling around at eye level! You really find much better, logical avenues of approach from bird-eye view, and also detect crests, hilltops, etc. on the first glance. Furthermore, logical rallying points emerge in the form of natural "basins", which can be detected right away!

If the next Close Combat were to look like this it could be very good!

Indeed, very impressive. The next Close Combat won't look like that, but I hope Eric sits up and takes notice. Have you posted those on the Freedom Games boards ?

You folks need to stop by more often. Thomm, gunny, and benpark are doing some wild things to the Squad Assault maps.

Oh, I have no idea other than the odd hints Atomic and Sulla have let out. I find it very odd we have yet to see any Red Phoenix screenies, BTW... in fact we seem to have heard very little since last summer. Maybe they have just been concentrating exclusively on FtF to get that out the door.

I was just making the point those screenies above are from Eric Young's Squad Assault. Despite EYSA's undoubted flaws I still consider Eric's games far more likely to preserve the spirit of the first five CC games than anything Atomic/Destineer will put out in the near future. FtF looks very good, but it obviously has nothing to do with CC, and Red Phoenix is looking ever more like vaporware IMHO.

Sitting up, taking notice, and working with Thomm as much as is possible.
