Just finished Spartans at Noderfurt as NATO. Kinda dull. Made a line on the north side of the sector and waited. Lost 6 Bradleys and KO'd about everything they had. Didn't have to do anything except bring my reserve up when my front line ran out of ammo.

WP didn't use their artillery at all during the game. They just hung out at Sector 4 the whole time. Looks like they could have done some damage.

Seems the AI needs to use arty better in the attack role. I kept my commo low - does the AI wait to hammer my HQ's a bit too much?

I think it's time for pbem . . .

PBEM will be a totally new experience as it introduces a whole new dimension - the human mind. No longer will you get AI results. A human player is capable of making better (and sometimes worse) decisions. You'll enjoy it better as PBEM.

PBEM or TCP/IP.....the only way to fly. The AI is just weak right now, that being said, I have rarely found any AI on any game that can play as well as any average human. Have generated many PBEM games here in the forums. Just email or PM someone and they are likely to take you up on it. Heck, pm me if you want to PBEM.

Regards,

Tbird3

Usually the case. Although HTTR still does a pretty good job at keeping me honest. CM does ok on defense too.

A little off topic, but what is "HTTR"? I have seen it mentioned a lot around here.

BTW, as a frustrated AI opponent, I can tell you that Tbird3 is right; PBEM is the only way to go. As a matter of fact, he's beating me like I owe him money right now.

HTTR=Highway to the Reich. Another fine wargame available through Matrixgames.

Since this is an arty thread; hope you don't mind me piggybacking this question on it:

How do you assign an artillery unit to a combat unit or HQ? I've seen it mentioned in other threads and I see where its mentioned in the manual (Direct (Artillery Only); but I can't seem to find in the pull down or pop-up menu's for the Artillery units how its done. The Manual does't describe how its done.

anyone got an idea?

I've only been trying with NATO forces. Is this just for WP?

OH, and I'll mention again: we need a M2 Bradley IFV silhouette for the map counters. They currently show an M113 APC when the unit is all M2's.

You need to select the artillery unit, set the command to Direct Support and then select the friendly unit which you want to support.

Only available for WP units. To get that effect from NATO, just keep your unit "on call".. When that unit makes contact, it will usually call for fire.

After checking one of my WP battles I see now. But, Why doesn't NATO artillery have the option to be assigned direct fire support for "a" specific unit like the WP forces?

I'm enjoying this game more and more.

Thanks

You can turn on call off as well.
I have my off since I prefer to mass my fire on single units.

Nothing better than catching a mech company in the open and having 36 guns wipe them from the map.

I think that the idea is NATO's command structure is a lot more flexible; therefore, if you leave your arty "on call", whenever a unit comes in contact w/ the enemy, it will call for fire from that arty "on call"

The WP didn't have this flexibility to just "call" when they needed support, so you need to directly assign the arty unit to another unit.

my guess anyway
