Hello everyone... I am currently working on the TCP/IP version of SPWAW. Those of you with good memories of game credits might know that I did the online version of Steel 3. One thing I always wondered is if anyone actually played Steel 3 online with three or more people, as opposed to head-to-head, one on one. I just figured that head-to-head would be more popular, since you don't have to wait around so much for your turn, but am still curious. The network version of SPWAW is currently planned to be 2-player only, but I am nevertheless looking for input one way or the other. Thanks, Tom

I have not played Sp3 online but from my 3+ years experince playing PG2 online I have played way more 4 ways then any other kind of games. Even with haveing to wait 30+ minutes for my next turn and from playing SP2WAW this wait would be around the same for most games. Four ways are always more fun becouse you got to work with someone to win, like a good friend. Most of the guys online playing PG2 were more then willing to wait hours to get a 4 way going rathere then play some 2 way. Thats my 2 cents. Alls fair in love and war

Yes, We have used 3 player several times. I wouldn't spend much time on it though.

Welcome Tom! I personally owe Tom a real debt of gratitude. He does much more than just TCP/IP stuff in SPWAW. FYO, he worked with Michael Wood all night long to make the current scenarios compatible with the new larger maps. So a public thank you, Tom, for your efforts on our behalf. Hi Tom, I never tried the TCP/IP for Steel 3 as I didn't have the net then. So I can't honestly say. Your statement of what it does is very new to me, if it's new to me it might also be new to others as well. Since this is a windows version now the post by Drake666 interested me. We could be doing something else, reading here, news groups, whatever and have an alarm type thing go off when it's our turn, assuming there is nothing to see in the battle. I would be interested to know how the fog of war works between team mates. Maybe a program like RogerWilco could be used as well, to have that voice contact between teams. I don't know. So I will read with interest and follow this thread closely. Thanks for stepping forward for a moment and saying hi, come back soon. As I posted, We have used the 3 and 4 player before, but not over the Net. We use it over a LAN in my house (I am in the computer biz and have lots of PCs) to teach new players how to play. We have also used it on bad weather days during deer season. If you have a friend (s) who has a laptop, this will allow some good HTH fun. With 3 or 4 players, there is always somebody to kibitz with while you wait. It also helps you from becoming an obsessed introvert as you try to cross the Meuse in 44. ------------------ When in doubt, go on line.

Used Roger Wilco a lot playing PG2. Would plan stratigy and chat when it was the other players turns.

I played SP3Online only a few times and only with a friend COOPERATIVELY. The four player thing was a real interesting thing to have... If four player will continue in SPWAW I think we should get some group of people together and try and organize four player games with each other. I've tried to play SP3Online several times, but didn't know where to look for people. Tomo

I played SPIII for months on Mplayer. I loved it. I never got very good but it was a great time trying. My wife on the other hand despised it, hehe. I thought / hoped I'd be able to play SPWAW. Can't wait for that opputunity. I can't much get into PBEM. Look forward to it. By the way, WB great job on the "Saving Private Ryan" scenario. I love it. Quite a challenge for me, Nate

Thanks Nate! I watched the movie, took notes, then designed it. Then I watched the movie, then played the scenario. It really had an impact on me each time.
