This ambitious game is going retail on May 10, 2005.

The screenshots and details of gameplay are amazing.

Whether the game can live up to all expectations waits to be seen.

If Battlegoat can pull off this game, I wonder what they could do for a world-wide WW2 game :)

Good to know I'm not the only one who has been following this one closely. I am definitely looking forward to this and am keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't turn out to be another Superpower type disaster......

An email to these guys when this game was in its infancy developmental stages indicated that if this game was well received, the engine would be adopted to a WW2 era game.

I have been following this game for a couple years now. It was so ambitious I never thought it would ever be published.

And yes, I hope it's not another Superpower... although the developers have been taking their time to get this game done properly...

All the maps are from actual satillite photos...

That is music to my ears...

If this game is good, then the customers will come...

And the amazing thing is this game requires only a PII 400 computer :)

The one good thing is that this game has been in development for 4-5 years now.

So it has not been rushed.

The scope and detail are astounding.

Again, it all depends on whether the game will deliver all that has been thrust upon it...

If Supreme Ruler 2010 does deliver, and if Battlegoat does develop a global WW2 game with its engine, then I would love to see Matrix grab the game developer from Strategy First...

Apparently there is an option so you can switch to pure "turn-based" mode.

Yes, I am very pumped, it looks awsome, and I love how you start off small and can conqure the world, the devs are pretty open too, they will add units and stuff if you can prove they are real world, or fairly on reserch, like the commanche has been added since it was built and what not.

Supreme Ruler 2010 Overview

(From the Official Website)

Welcome to the World of Supreme Ruler 2010

"Not another Tank Rush game, but a game where a real world economy must support a real world military."

As time ticks forward...

2005 - Beginning of Global Depression
2006 - Major Global Market Crashes
2007 - Countries have retreated into a Isolationist shell
2008-2009 - Depression continues and countries begin to disintegrate

The year is 2010...

The Major Powers of the world as we currently know them have disintegrated into bickering economic and military regions. The United Nations has disappeared, and in its place an organization with far sharper teeth referred to simply as "The World Market" has taken its place. Individual Regions are left to fight for power to dominate their neighbors, their countries, their continents, and then the world.

The Story So Far...

While many will argue that the first seeds of crisis date back to the U.S. Presidential election of 2004, most historians agree that the real beginnings were far earlier than that. Regardless, all agree that it was the total economic collapse of the United States that brought us to where we are now. Continue with the "Story So Far..."

A Sampling of Features...

• SATELLITE IMAGERY - Maps use actual “Real World” imagery

• REAL-TIME or TURN BASED PLAY OPTIONS

• CAMPAIGN - Start in one of over 200 Regions World-Wide!

• MULTI-PLAYER SUPPORT FOR UP TO 16 PLAYERS

• EXTENSIVE ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL MODEL

• MAP AND SCENARIO EDITOR INCLUDED

Let's be clear about the Battlegoat guys. This development has been something of a passion of theirs for a very long time. They will do a very good job, it is their first "baby". There was much skeptism on the choice of Strategy First as the publisher, but since they were an obscure entity in this realm, they didn't have a lot of choices. Needless to say they are very adamant about not rushing this game out quickly and are very attentive to their forum requests(at which at one time I was quite active). This game will receive alot of post release attention from them and I cannot encourage you guys enough to buy this game...you will not regret it.

And one or two other things, talk about an innovative engine, can you say HttR. Yes it is on that scale. And you guys that like HoI, it is as in depth as HoI, but being aware of the problems of this level of sophistication...the "Minister" AI system will hopefully allow you to manage the interface with little effort. The AI? Well what can be said.......we shall see!

I agree.

All the individual nations actually have the actual military units they would in real life.

Heck, you can actually see crusie missiles being launched from sites on the map.

This is the general feeling I got from the developers as well.

The one thing I am amazed at is the absolute level of detail in this game.

On the macro level, a player can zoom out and see the whole world (in satellite imagry), while on the micro level, a player can zoom in to set details for the type of infantry battalion one wants

Supreme Ruler 2010 is Gold

Publisher Strategy First and developer BattleGoat today upgraded their economic, political and military strategy game, Supreme Ruler 2010, to gold status. In addition, Supreme Ruler 2010 boasts a single and multi-Player mode, which supports up to 16 players. This grand strategy title is expected to attract gamers of all kinds as the highly immersive interface realistically engages the player in not only war, but the inseparably related economic and political implications that accompany it.

Supreme Ruler 2010 will be available for purchase on May 10, 2005 at all major retailers at a suggested retail price of $39.99. To get more information, head over to SupremeRuler2010.com.

There's some discussion about SR2010 over at Apolyton, with info from the lead programmer of the game:

Going over to the Wargamer site brought up an ad for Laser Squad Nemesis....seems like a tidy turn based Sci Fi game along the lines of XCom...for 20 bucks I may give it a try.....sometimes, advertising does work!

Only thing worries me is the interface from screenshots look like a mess to navigate..hope that isnt the case. Ill be happy (even if it does have a crap UI) if its not a pile of crap like Superpower 2 was with countries like Iraq going to war along with Beligum, South Africa, South Korea and Turkey against the the US, North Korea and Iran (Im serious too that happened in one game) and somehow being able to move several hundred thousand troops to west coast of the US without even breaking a sweat.

This is a "what if", there are no more "countries", but what amounts to city-states with a certain technological level depending on there pre-dissemination local.

As far as the map clutter, that was one of my first concerns. The developers assured me there would be plenty of screen filters.

Yeah I realize that sorry I should have been clearer in saying I hope the game's ai is more realistic and doesnt just seem to do random things with no cause for it like SP2 suffered from.

The real test will come when the game is released and we see how it plays.

SR2010 does have several things in its favour:

1) 4 years in development

2) 1 year in beta test

3) more features will be implemented via patches

That would be because it is developed by some of the guys from XCom :) . Has anyone tried LSN yet?

Man, I am juiced about this game. Curious though, how does this compare to industry norms? You would figure that if it has been in beta for a year, it should be pretty smooth right out of the door.

RTW was in development 4 to 5 years also and look what happened to it. While the graphics were great, the gameplay was less than challenging. If they made this game for 13 year olds, it won't be any more challenging than RTW was.

The BIG difference is that the publisher of RTW has only a TWO patch policy - that's it - despite the BIG problems RTW still has.

With SR2010 - the developers are already working to add NEW features to the game based on user feedback.

The demo should be out about the same time as the full game...
