Hi All
Played Uncommon Valour a few times but this is my first go with WITP. Have the latest upgrade and am playing the full scenario. I'm hoping you can help me with a few things.

1. How do you turn the Production system on and off? I don't seem to see a button or setting for this and although the manual refers to it it doesn't seem to say how? Is this more critical for the Japanese player? I'm playing the Allies against the AI.

2. How do I transport airgroups on ships? Is it only via carriers? I have a couple of airgroups in LA that I'd like to transfer to the South Pacific etc. but when I press the transfer to ships button there are no eligible ships. I even brought the Saratoga back to port to see if it could carry it but it didn't come up either. Do I have to remove airgroups from the Saratoga first and then load the bombers on? Can I do this with AK's?

3. In this regard, I remember that in UV it took the Langley ages to become capable of transporting ships. Is this still the case and do I have to wait until 43 for it to upgrade before it can do this? I seem to recall continually sending it back to Pearl (4 or 5 times?) before it could transport so what is the equivalent in WITP?

You can carry airgroups with AK's usually. Maybe you were not having any transport groups with empty AK in at LA at this time?

AKs work fine. One TF selection is Air Transport TF when you form a task force. I think that even regular Transport TF is fine. You can the just select "Load Troops" or "Load Only Troops" and it gives you the list of units available for loading. Air units are included. Some units may not show being under restricted command, so if you want to transport them, you need to change theur HQ.

"Transfer to ship" can be used to move air units to CV/CVL/CVE. CVE Long Island doesn't have integral air group, so it's perfect to ferry air units that way.

If you are playing Allies, there is nothing to do for production. This is just a Japanese option. The only thing the Allies can do is to make sure they have oil and resources present for their factories, and this is generally only a problem for Australia (aka Oz). So, get as much oil and resources to Oz to help their production and deprive the Japanese of stuff they need.

AKs work well for transporting air units as noted. You may want to divide air groups (not squadrons) when you transport them to avoid having everyone sunk if a sub shows up. At the beginning of scen. 15, i don't think there are any air units available except as West Coast Command in the US. In order to use these, you need to transfer them to CenPac, SWPac, SoPac, NoPac, SE Asia, or something. Don't reassign them to another restricted command or you STILL won't be able to move them. Other restricted commands include West Coast, USAFFE, ABDA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc. If you reassign to one of these, you have wasted the Political Points.

Hi all! I am also new to the game and thought I would add on to this thread instead of starting another newbie thread.

My first question is regarding political points. I am playing as the Allies against the AI and by coincidence at Dec15,41 too!

I have changed commanders and switched commands for some units but still have about 300 pts.

I know its early in the game but at the rate I am spending them they will continue to accumulate. THerefore, is there something I am missing? Is it normal to accumulate in the early game then spend later as more units become available?

Second question. I read a thread about keeping notes while playing and am wondering what type of notes different players keep?

Last, is there a way to view past reports from previous turns?

It takes about 5k political points to change the HQ of a division. 300 is not very much. You'll want a lot in 42.

Also, the british ship withdrawl can be an issue with political points. If you want to keep a ship, it costs points. CV's are 2000 points.

Personally, i use up all my PP early in the game and only later start to accumulate them. If you want to get any units moved from the Philippines (i.e., to save a cadre, or an air unit) you will use them up. Also, you need to change from ABDA to get any Dutch troops moved around (from island to island). If you don't want to move anyone, you can start to accumulate PP pretty rapidly.

I think peoples notes are based on thier ability to remember. As I usually take part in "recreational activities" while playing, i tend write down reminders of what I am trying to accomplish so i don't end up with questions like "what the hell did i send that there for?"

I would suggest writing down notes on what your read in these forums about peoples mistakes, save yourself a lot of frustration.

Reminders like "turn off loading supplies" and other lessons learned are helpful. Brainstorming ideas or things read in the forum are noteworthy, along with an endless ammount of detail in troop strengths, supply, resorces and oil, aircraft production, upgrade paths, armaments, intel reports, reinforcment schedules...
