Well, I apologize for being such a novice at this computer wargaming thing, but I cant figure out for the life of me how to get my carrier Cap and airstrikes to work. I am playing as the Americans, and my carriers will not put up any Cap nor will they make any airstirkes. I have plenty of fuel and endurance but not one plane flys cap and no airstirkes are launched at all. Is this a bug or what am I doing wrong?? Thanks.

Cap is the percentage left over from escort or sweep missions.

Pick one of your fighter units on the CV, set it to 50% Cap Level with a mission type of Escort.

This will mean half of the group remains to protect the CV and the other half flies along with your bombers to help shoot through the enemy Cap.

Load the Coral Sea scenario and look at both sides. They both have groups configured right off to fight each other somewhere around Gili Gili if left alone. It is a good starting scenario to learn the does and don'ts of CV fighting.

Bombers will generally not fly against a target that has enemy cap protecting it. The balance act is keeping enough cap over you to protect you yet putting enough escort to punch through the enemy cap so your bombers don't get shot down.

First rule ... you rarely if ever have enough aircraft to do both

I have tried and tried to launch cap and carrier strikes, I must be doing something wrong. I put my fighters on escort and set the cap rate to half and my carriers wont launch any air operations and are target practice for the computer Japanese. Can someone tell me whats wrong??

Post a screen shot that shows how your carrier squadrons are ordered, then another from the same turn of the TF elements themselves so we can be sure you have OPs left.

You probably do not have enough escort to punch through enemy CAP so the strike does not launch. Only other explanation is sighting.
