-Another big raid against Lae resulted in 7 heavy bombers lost. Aircrews are complaining about being forced to fly long range missions for two days in a row, and fatigue levels increased a lot. Time to rest?

-The Japanese Navy lost one more sub and lots of planes, as G4M´s escorted by Zeros attempted to attack a convoy at PM, which had been recently reinforced with an entire FG of P-40´s. Furthermore, Maraubers destroyed more 4 Vals in Lae. The enemy already lost 27 Vals from air bombardment. For some strange reason, the combat report file wasn´t saved (I´ve just upgraded to v1.60). Must verify this.

-Few action today. Marauders escorted by P-40´s attacked Lae. Three A6M lost (2 in the ground) against 1 P-40 and 1 Marauder. Lae damage stands at 66% (runway) according to recon data. No IJN subs lost today (did them run out of subs???)

-No action today, but the Death Star 2 was seen close to Gilli Gilli again. One Kongo class BB identified plus at least 5 CA´s and 3 BB´s overall. Lae got a rest today, as many B-26 in PM are damaged.
-Hoping to have my animations restored.....

I believe you need to have the Japanese player go to settings and restore them. The allied player can not restore game settings anymore.

-As the enemy Death Star positioned for the final night run against PM, my carriers also took position to catch it in the tripi back to home. Meanwhile, the surface ship was massively attacked by B-26´s and Beaufighters from PM and B-17´s and B-24´s from Cooktown. One of the Kongo class BB was hit by two 500lb bombs (which are useless) and 6 planes (4 B-26, 1 B-17, 1 B-24) were lost to enemy flak. To make things worse, another surface TF is preparing for an attack against Henderson field. The enemy won the last surface battle there, and now that Washigton is heavily damaged, there is only one or 2 BB´s to defend Henderson field, so what will happen? My guess is that the attack agaisnt PM will be called off and the objective was only to lure my carriers from Lunga in order to make possible the bombardment of Lunga.

-Yamamoto´s attempt to achieve a decisive victory against the USN surface force gave funny results. Let´s recapitulate his plot. He sent two battleship forces, one against Port Moresby and another against Lunga. As he expected, the US carriers moved to catch the bombardment group directed to PM, while Lunga was left withouth the protection of Carriers. He expected to find relatively small opposition, as BB Washington was heavily damaged in the last battle, so there would be only one or two BB to defend Lunga. Yamamoto´s force against PM included at least 3 Kongo class BB and a number of cruisers and destroyers. Against Lunga, Yamamoto sent his main force, including the Battleships Mutsu, Nagato and Yamato, the heavy cruisers Atago, Maya, Myoko, Haguro and Nachi, plus 2 CL and 5 DD. This formidable force was intercepted by the USN surface force at Guadalcanal. USN forces included BB Washington (the "heavy" damage in the 1st Guadalcanal battle was only flooding, which was almost fully repaired, the ship got only 11 system damage) and North Carolina, plus 8 CA, 2 CL and 12 DD. In other words, the USN were outgunned in Battleships but had more cruisers and destroyers. The American surface forces in Guadalcanal had been reinforced with CA´s and DD´s from the carriers TF´s. Despite the massive firepower of both fleets, no ship was sunk or even suffered heavy damaged. The Nagato got a torpedo and was on fire. An USN DD also got around 30 sys damage and 6 fire. The Japanese TF retreated to the North (to avoid USN carriers in the route back to Shortland/Rabaul) and the bombardment of Lunga was called off . Meanwhile, the Kongos changed their target from PM to Gilli Gilli killing or wounding 558 men in the bombardment, but casuing relatively small damage to the infrastructure (partially recovered from previous attacks). A good new for us is that intel confirmed the sinking of a third IJN CA (Mogami) as result of battle damage in the 1st Battle of Guadalcanal (this is the second one). So what was seem as a devastating defeat to USN is now more like a victory or a draw (3 CA and 2 DD lost for IJN; 1 CA and 9 DD lost for USN).
-Well, it seems both sides are unable to achieve a decisive victory with their surface forces. Will Yamamoto committ his remaning Carriers to battle?

-No combat, except for the usual attacks of B-17´s against land troops in Tassafaronga. However, the a Japanese surface TF was seen 300 miles from Lunga and 60 miles Southeast from Shortland. Another surface battle is going to happen.

-Another Japanese attempt to bombard Henderson field at night resulted in the bloodiest surface battle up to now. The third Guadalcanal battle seems to have ended in a clear USA victory. The Japanese brought all the four Kongos, plus the heavy cruisers Chikuma and Takao plus two CL´s and 4 DD´s. The USN assembled again a formidable force including the three 16in BB´s in the South Pacific Front (Washington, North Carolina and South Dakota, which arrived at Noumea only five days ago), 7 heavy cruisers, 2 light cruisers and 10 DD. The surface action resulted in the loss of BB Hiei, CL Sendai and 4 DD´s (Yamagumo, Minegumo, Asagumo and Natsugumo), but all remaining IJN ships suffered heavy damage except Chikuma. The USN force lost 2 heavy cruisers (Pensacola and Northampton) while many other cruisers and destroyers suffered moderate to heavy damage. Lunga harbour is full of crippled cruisers and destroyers. To make things even worse for Japan, 16 SBD´s based on Henderson field attacked Kongo and Haruna in the following day, while those ships attempted to crawl from the battlezone. Each one took a couple of 1000lbs bombs. It´s possible that 3 Kongo class BB´s will be lost. Unless Japan risks their carriers and their 16in battleships in a decisive battle around Lunga, it seems the base is secured, on the other hand, if Japan attempts such a movement it will offer us an opportunity to crush their Navy for good.

-The end

-Another Japanese Kongo class BB sinks from battle damage while SBD´s pound again the remaining two Battleships. With USN achieving a solid marginal victory status, we agree to end the scenario. It still needs a lot of changes in order to have a more historical play.
