It seems to me that the rules are saying that an sudden death victory is achieved by the Japanese if he controls either Lunganville, Efate, Noumea, Townville,
Rockhampton or Brisbane on or after Jan 1st 1943.

But most of the people I have read here are launching the invasion on November 1942 for aiming at Jan 43.

Why is that ? Are the Rule wrong ? Should it be on or before Jan 1st 1943 ?

Or is it because people think that doing it after Jan 43 becomes an impossible task ?

Sorry for this stupid noob question

IRRC the auto victory is anytime after 01-01-43. The problem is if you wait too long the allies will have too much combat power for you to take one of those bases and hold it long enough. You must also have 2x supply at the base also....

Yes, If I am going to try for autovictory, then I will make my move in late October-November of 1942. As the Japanese, you will be the strongest with the arrival of fresh divisions (scen 19, I assume) and the Allies still are fairly weak as the p38 lightning has not arrived in numbers enough to cause you much trouble. Then you need to keep the captured base and keep enough supply and hold it If it is still yours come January 1, 1943-then congrats, you have won the game! Any caputure after Jan. 1 will also give you autovictory as well as long as you have the supply X2.
