I've read how HQ units help other units in various ways. Are units are tied to certain HQs for better support in this game? Are HQ units particular about who they support? Is there any penalty for using units outside of thier designated areas? If I move a Japanese LCU to the Burma front is it worth the PP to make the change?

Generally it does not matter unless the unit is attached to a restricted HQ. For the allies, I believe those are West Coast, Canadian, Philippines, ABDA, New Zealand & Australia. Not sure about Japan other than home defense.

Hi.

The restricted commands for Japan are: Home Defense, Northern Area, Kwangtung Area, and China. :)

hq support all troops in there comand area.. ground troops are not restricted in getting supplies and replacements, although air units get them from the atttached HQ... and having the base attached to a parent hq for air un nits can help them get replacements if supply is met.. 20k? Your specific ? re Jap troops, it does not make any difference if units are used outside historic areas and restricted land units are MARCHABLE to other theaters and can be used well

Thank you for information, that's just what I needed to know. BTW, do the LCUs in Korea count towards the Kwantung Garrison requirement? I would think so but just want to make sure.

Does anyone know what the various types of HQs do, i.e. assault, rear etc and this counts also towards the description of what type of HQ leaders are best suited to?

There are some good hq threads.. Fleets help port, I believe increasing effective size by two, Air help with air units attacks and cordination?, amphin force help with invasions, other? if an hq is in a base, it is assumed it gives support to those units in the base hex.. not sure if there is a limit to this.. and leader requirements are a mysterious thing that is not documented
