As a test before embarking on scenario 15, with patch 1.50, I set up scenario 6 AI against AI and let it run 17 turns, then went through and looked how many leaders were gone, I counted 18 before I gave up. After than I started using scenario 1, the tutorial, because of the smaller number of units, to look for a repeatable save. After 7 leaders lost that wouldn't repeat, I finally got a repeatable save . On repeated runnings the leader of the CLAA San Diego, would either be replaced by a staff officer, or another American (I think) commander.

Were the tests all AI vs AI? Maybe just the AI was replacing its leaders....Were the values of the replacements higher?

No, only scenario 6 was AI vs AI. Scenario 1 was AI vs me. If it was replacing leaders it was replacing them with Japanese and staff officers. Some of the values were higher and some lower.

There are many places where leaders are accessed in the code.

Many of the leader leaks have been plugged (as seen in the WhatsNew) as Mike gots saves for them. But there are several other places obviously where the leaks are still occurring.

I have not seen any leader leaks yet but I am searching for them and with some luck should have some saves available if they appear.

I just ran into the first of the leader changes......ship captains change to "staff officer" one turn and then to a Japanese Army officer the next turn. I am not getting a repeatable save yet but it started rather quickly in a new 1.5 game. Me vs Jap AI.

Please tell me the leader bug is only occuring with scenario 6.

I have been waiting month after month, patch after patch, for this game to be fixed and playable.
I just started a new scenario 16 game thinking that with the 1.5 patch, the so called final patch, that it's finally time to play this game for real!

How much longer do I need to wait?

There are numerous versions of the leader bugs. This is just one version. For me, it happened in scenario 15, Me vs. Jap AI.

This is not one of those things that will totally ruin a game considering all the other variables. It is however one that can make for some problems with battles along the way.

I wouldn't hold up a game because of this, its more an annoyance.

Is it possible to get the leader bug focused on in a 1.51 patch. It is the most glaring problem for many players though there are a few other significant problems left, which impede gameplay. I think more frequent patches with less content would make it easier for the gaming population to tell if a bug has been squashed or if a new one introduced and speed up the entire patch process while improving customer satisfaction.
