This caused problems for China because it allowed the Japanese to cut the Burma road but it also proved disasterous for Japan because once I gave up on fighting for Burma the British had an army with nothing to do. So we sent it to Palembang and Java where it stopped the Japanese.

Indeed. The Nipponese may not realize how close they got at Palembang. Things were going well in the air..so we took a a chance when you were spotted marching down from Jambi and sent the best thing we had in the DEI (an Aussie brigade..survivor of the Malaya evac.. which was refitting in Batavia) and rushed them to Palembang just in time. The other Aussie brigade was rushed by fast transport from Soerabaja just in time as well..leaving nothing but KNIL remnants and garrisons in Java. Your naval bombardments made the airfield untenable briefly, but you were unable to keep it closed and when American fighters began to replace the Dutch..it was once again safe to base bombers there. As more Japs arrived by sea..we were outnumbered badly .......but the 2nd UK Div was already at sea in the Indian Ocean and was diverted to Palembang...again..just in time.

Same was true of Soerabaja...she would have been lost if not for the arrival of an Indian Div which was already in the pipeline. She was landed in Batavia and raced down to Soerabaja.

Brutal fight for Soerabaja..great.see saw battle. Great fun too.

The battle for Soerbaja-- With all the transport sunk or damaged. It took awhile to pull together the landing force as was. The plan was to land another division and brigade, but pulling together enough transport was difficult. We scraping as was ships and such. The operation as was huge, that is one one the reasons there wasn't anything to stop the landing at Gili-Gili.

I just read the Japanese side of the AAR. Interesting. It does explain a few things..like why a massive invasion force seemed to be heading for Noumea/Luganville/Efate area...then..just disappeared.

Also interesting how, in the fog of war, it is easy to underestimate the extremity of the situation the enemy finds itself....a good example was both sides lamenting the terrible situation in the same city in China at the same time

By the way, when does the 'Cold War' phase of this AAR commence?

After the cold beers are issued. I believe the beers are on ice at the south pole now.

Interesting point. There will be no Korean War as the Rooskis are still sitting on their tails in Siberia and the Soviet sphere of influence in Asia will end at the Russian border (for now, at least)

Still, if the Russians decide to get frisky there will be no stopping them without nukes.

The whole thing sounds like money-making dream to the future Congressman Minderbinder.

I hear there are secret labs still in Japan, and one that is called the sakeattan project.

Connect the positive to the..........................................................ITS ALIVE!

I finally got my modem working again after I had some new flooring put in in my office...somehow the power cord to the modem got lost. I had to make a trip to Radio Shack and buy a power adaptor for half the price of the original modem.

OK..enough of that..I never thanked all those who had kind things to say about the AAR.......thanks

Tabpub and I are going to start a new 2v2 vs an all Christian team, Moses and John 3rd, when Generalissimo Tabpub gets back from Oz. It willbe titled something like.."From here to...well..it SEEMS like an eternity". Drop on by when you get a chance...kick yur shoes off...sit a spell.

I also thretened to post some pics of the 4000 sq feet of sod I put in just as the Pacific Theatre of Operations was heating up to it's climax. Next time..I'll hire a contractor...bloody well killed me

looking South

You'll do well. If I remember my gladiator movies right, the Lions always ate up the Christians.

The sod looks terrific. Thanks for a great AAR!

Water ....seriously, it is a "dwarf" tall fescue (Irealize that is an oxymoron)...the soil has to be prepared well (rototilled and amendment), then when watered heavily in pulses just after installation it will root really deep (3-4 feet or more). This makes it quite drought tolerant.

I already have 2 sets of gophers moving in from opposite sides. There was a big, 4-foot gopher snake back there..but I think we scared him away. The dogs will occaisionally catch one (gopher) but the damn things are like Kamikaze pilots..they ignore the losses and keep coming. I hate the little furry bastards but I do admire their grit when cornered...they rear up on their haunches, bear their teeth and hiss...BONZAI!
