On June 11, USS Constitution makes her annual turnaround cruise and she will be accompanied by an LST.

I rode one of the newer, bigger LSTs (USS San Bernardino) from Okinawa to Philippines to Hong Kong to Okinawa. Flat bottomed sucker riding high. We met a 'tropical depression'...that's what they called it...I called it a storm. We had 38 degree rolls going for a day or so.

I was one of two marines in ship's platoon that could sit up in the rack without pukin'.

There was a D-7 Cat on deck that came loose (that's a whole 'nother story) and I had to go out on deck and lock it back down. Was out on the pitching deck for about an hour.
