Howdy, im a new player to the Decisive battle series. Im a long time historian and military history buff. Up until now played mainly Paradox games such as EU 1+2, Hoi 1+2, and Victoria. A fellow Paradox Grognard suggested Korsun Pocket, or anything the SSG guys make. We played a hot seat game of Korsun pocket and i was hooked.
Only problem is that this game is deep and there is so much to take in. Are there any strat articles or wiki type pages made by some of the hardcore chaps out there to help someone like my self absorb the finer intracacies of this deep as an abyss game quickly? Threads i should lookout for? I already found the run5 site which really rocks and i can tell will be a main source of iunfo for me, but its such a big site that i am having a hard time even finding the answers to my questions as i always seem to inadvertently run across some facsinanting series of post's or articles and i end up forgetting what i was looking for!
I am having a hard time with all of the icons in the game. Icon in the gui's(Which are nicely designed and logical, intuitive) icons in the battle field, on the map, good lord! Im not complaining, i rather like my games nice and deep, im just the sort of chap who likes to know what is exactly going on, many times on the field of battle info is key to success or taking advantage of an opportune situation, kind of hard to do so when i dont kknwo the meaning of any of the indicators are! any adice for taking all of it in? I dont have the manual since i bought the game via digital download, and its a pain to scrol through the pdf on my laptop as i play my computer, besides when my significant other sees this she think i am playing two war game at a time, or worse against my self.
Also what are the series for this game so far? I bought Korsun and across the dniepr and am going to purchase BIN when i digest Korsun a little more. Has SSG made any other games in the series?
Any other advice besides getting into tournies and PBEM!(Im an avid MP wargamer, no need to tell me how much better of an experience MP is, i already have seen the light eons ago!)
Articles, Wikki type pages, or even our own write up. I would love to digest any, and all of your suggestions.
