I still love playing squad leader board game. I was very disappointed with Microprose's effort on the game. I have read elsewhere that this game is similar to ASL. How close is it? Can you set up your own scenerios? If it is very close, I would love to purchase it. I looked at the screen shots and couldn't really tell. Graphics look a little dated but if the game play is still great, that is more important.

Thanks in advance.

Gameplay is spectacular, you can set up scenarios, campaigns and random battles, and the game is FREE. There's hardly an excuse not to try it.

You won't be disappointed!!
You can MOD your game, It has an excellent Editor, all kinds of neat tools to use for maps and such.
Gameplay is great.....
and like terminus said....it's FREE

Not to knock SPWAW at all, but if you are looking for ASL done right on the computer, consider the Combat Mission games. They started out as ASL for the computer.

Yep, both Combat Mission and SPWAW (and SP2WW2) are excellent ASL substitutes. Also ASL scenario conversions are available for these games.

A strange thing about SP:WaW players is that, given a beer and an address, most will burn a CD and send it to you. The game, patches an some other goodies. Something to think about if the download is too big or otherwise difficult to get.

Went ahead and downloaded it. Haven't gotten to play it yet with the release of CoG. Been spending most of my time in that forum helping and when not on the computer, putting a pond and a new patio in the backyard.
