Well I didn't experience this myself but my pbem game friend installed directX 8,1 to his cpu and after that all graphics of SPWAW went crazy. He said all graphics became some sorta mess thus ruining his possibility to even play the game.
Anyone else experienced same problems? For now I will not install DiX 8,1 to this older cpu of mine as Im afraid it would make SPWAW unplayable.
I hope Matrix staff will look into this.

Using XP with Dx 8.1 the game works fine, but you have to make sure you upgrade to Dx8.1 compatible video drivers. The likely cause of such problems is a mismatch between vid card, drivers, and DirectX. SPWaW does work with Dx 8.1, but as always you have to ensure you are sing mutally supportive vid card, drivers and Dx versions.
