What happened to Princeton to make it sink with 1 x 250KG bomb? I've never seen that in game. Must be broken

Steven

You can see that in game too! You just have to rename the ship: e.g. Ryuho!!

Princeton was a victim of fire damage. Apparantly the bomb hit knocked out much of her integral fire fighting capability and the blazes proved resistant to being quelled. She suffered a series of explosions which exaserbated things until eventually a torpedo magazine exploded, dooming the ship and severely damaging the CL Birmingham which was alongside the CVL when she suffered the big bang.

An analogy can be made between a damaged Japanese vessel and a bad poker player.

Fires --> psychological instability

Flood Damage --> plummeting bankroll

both of these combined means.. more money for the sharks

While not completely related, one has to remember the Mutsu spontaneously exploded off of Hiroshima.
It is thought poor powder storage was the reason. Actually, they think the same thing happened to the Maine
(giving the US an excuse to start a lovely war of easy colonial expansion...Kind of ironic that is how we got bases in the Philipines). After that, USN paid more attention to powder storage...

Let`s face it, losing a CV to a couple of bombs is a huge bummer....But losing a BB to....Resting in port would freak out most WITP players

Castor, I am curious. Which three carriers did you lose? The Hiryu's were very lightly constructed and could not take the same amount of damage as some of the other fleet carriers. (Like Shokaku).

I think losing Hiryu, Soryu and Hiyo is a much different situation than losing Shokaku, Zuikaku and Akagi.

I can´t remember, would have to look it up on the first page of the thread, but it is already 3 years old and the game has long ended...
