War Report 5/2/42
Sally's took some losses over Chungking today.
Betty's finished off the AP Van Dieman at Amboina.

Feurer Krieg Area Report
Nearly 50 LB-30's hit Wake today. The Oscars and Zeros attempted to fend them off, but the number were too much. Reports continue to indicate that although the Oscar is able to repeatedly hit the bombers, the small calibre machine gun shells are not enough to damage the large enemy aircraft. Damage to the airfield was managable, but a handful of Kates and Emilys were destroyed.

In the Solomons small nalnding forces disembarked on various small outpost islands. Stewart and Rennell Island atolls were both secured today.

Sub Ops:
The AK Regulus hit a sub-laid type 88 mine at Midway today.

In the far south Pacific, I-8 spotted a pair of AK's and escorts at night. Our carriers will headed out from their base at Suva to attempt an intercept.

Due to real life work issues and such, Gen Mantill is seeking an early retirement in the game. If there are any regular readers who are interested in taking over the reins of the Burma/China/India theater, please PM me. I'm sure Mantill will be happy to get you up to speed regarding the plans he has in progress and all that.

General Mantill has taken an honorable leave of absence. General Bruno is the new commander of the armies on the mainland.

Quiet today. A trio of Betty's attempted to torpedo a cargo ship at Akyab, but two of them were shot down by P-40E's on patrol over the base. Later though, a Sally on recon managed to fly by when no patrols were out, and scored a hit on the AK Empire Ranger.

Feurer Krieg Area Report
Allied cruisers bombarded Koumac throughout the night inflicting light damage.

Troops continue to secure the small bases in the Solomon chain. Sura'iro, Irau, and Thousand Ships Bay were all secured today.

War Report 5/5/42
A large, coordinated strike from Rangoon, Pagan and Mandalay converged on Akyab and bombed the airfield there from high altitude. IJAAF fighter losses were high as our Oscar's and Nates did their best against enemy Hurricanes and Warhawks. A couple enemy fighters were shot down, but our fighters suffered heavy losses. The bombers made it through in good shape, but from the high altitude most bombs missed the mark.
Air action at Akyab.

A Hurricane at Akyab.

Later in the day however, a dozen Lily bombers attacked ships in the port hitting a couple AK's.
Heavy raids by Helen's and Betty's on enemy convoys hit several AK's and TK's at both Batavia and a couple hundred miles southwest of that port. The MSW Agra and TK Empire Diplomat were confirmed sunk.
Betty's at Karachi put a torpedo into the AK Ravnaas at Koepang.

Feurer Krieg Area Report
About four dozen Liberators attacked Waked today, destroying several Kate aircraft on the ground. The airfield was not heavily damaged, but steps are being taken to bring in additional fighters to halt these raids.

Sub Ops:
The RO-68 was hit by a LB-30 on patrol near Noumea. It will return to Rabaul for repairs.

War Report 5/6/42
Another big strike on Akyab had better results today. Our Oscars downed some Hurricanes and one P-40E although Oscar and Nate losses were still significant. The escorts got the bombers through for the most part so some damage was inflicted on the airfields there. Several strikes across the DEI hit several Allied AKs and TKs. In all, 1 AP and 3 AK's were reported sunk, several more were damaged.

Feurer Krieg Area Report
Far south of Noumea and east of New Zealand, the convoy spotted by our Glen lookouts four days ago was caught at the very edge of our carrier air range. Many Kates, Vals and Alf's attacked the convoy. Debriefing and photo review seems to indicate troops were aboard all the ships hit. The convoy was quite large, and although several ships were hit, many more were not. The carriers will pursue for one more day and then retreat back to Suva for rearming. Several large transports were spotted in the convoy and if it can be damaged tomorrow, it would be a solid blow to the enemy, denying ground reinforcements to the Australia/DEI theater.
Damage report of the ships hit in today's carrier strike is as follows:

AK Jefferson Myers - Bomb hits 3
AK Idaho - Bomb hits 4
AK Makua - Bomb hits 2
AK Cynthia Olson - Bomb hits 1
AK Mormacdove - Bomb hits 3
AP Republic - Bomb hits 1

Enforcing the blockade in the deep South Pacific

The troop ship Republic.

Sub Ops:
The I-155 was hit by a depth charge from the PG Aster off the coast of Trimcomalee. Although damage is moderate the sub should be able to make it to Rangoon for repairs.

Non-Ops Air Losses

Hurricane II - 6
P-40E Warhawk - 1

Imperial Air Force

War Report 5/7/42
A medium sized strike against Ledo encountered only Chinese fighters on CAP duty, and proceeded to lightly damaged the airfield, destroying an Allied bomber on the ground for no friendly losses. Enemy Swordfish and Martin's attacked a convoy near Muntok, scoring two bomb hits on troop transports. Lily's and Betty's attacked cargo ships at Akyab, but scored no hits due to being jumped by enemy Hurricanes and Warhawks. Farther south, the DD Alden was sunk by a small raid of Bettys at Koepang.
The 4th IJA Div and 6th & 8th Tank Regiments continue to clear the road from Palembang to Teloekbetoeng. The Japanese forces are now less than 60 miles from the port on the south end of Sumatra. On Celeber, the base of Pomala was secured and the already depleted Dutch forces were again chased into the jungle.

Feurer Krieg Area Report
Five ships of the convoy attacked yesterday were located about 700 miles north-northeast of Auckland. All ships found were repeatedly attacked by Alfs, Jakes, Kates and Vals until they were all confirmed sunk. Survivors picked up by floatplane were interrogated and found to be part of two units, the 31st Naval Base Force, and the 72nd USA Field Artillery Regiment. Also, there are indications that an entire group of PBY Catalinas was on board the AK Potter. If so, this was a valuable ship to sink.
The ships sunk were the AP President Johnson, AP Republic, AK Potter, DMS Chandler and DD Grayson. The carrier group will head back to Suva to avoid being attacked by Allied carriers. Once there it will rearm and wait for the next target that attempts to sail across the south Pacific.
Carrier strike!

Sub Ops:
East of Madras, in the Bay of Bengal, the I-153 attacked the AP Ariadne Moller, but missed. It was moderately damaged by the transports escorts and will attempt to return to Rangoon for repairs.

General Bruno has been elevated to C-in-C and will now directly control all aspects of the Empire of Japan outside of the Pacific regions.
(Sorry for the long delay.. finally back at it!)

War Report 5/8/42
The Japanese airforce struck many places today. A very heavy raid at Akyab experienced heavy losses to the defending Hurricanes. Strikes at Lefo faired better against the Chinese fighter defenders. Other strikes at Soerabaja and Amboina both saw Allied fighters downed by our Zeros.
Swordfish from Batavia hit the AP Kasuga Maru at Palembang.
The AP Amakusa Maru struck a mine while on approach to Palembang.
Also, the AK Kalgan was struck by a Betty on search patrol about 500 miles ssw of Palembang.

Feurer Krieg Area Report
As our raider force heads back to Suva, the Allies continue to pound Koumac with naval and air forces. Today we inflicted a small bit of damage when the CA Louisville struck at sub-laid Type 88 mine on return to Noumea after the bombardment run at Koumac. Hopefully it will take some time to repair the damage.

Sub Ops:
Near Townsville, the I-162 put a torpedo into the DD Whipple. With luck the ship will sink.

Slightly less air activity today, but still a solid showing. Strikes were launched against bases in China, as well as agaisnt Soerabaja and Amboina.
The Allies for their part, sent a strike from Batavia that hit thre AP's near Muntok. Two bomb hits and one torpedo hit, but none of the transports have sunk as of yet. Martins from Batavia also hit a PG farther northeast from Muntok.
The AK Kalgan was reported sunk today as well.

Amakusa Maru, hit near Muntok

Feurer Krieg Area Report
At Koumac, the Allies have maintained a pattern of sending LB-30's against the airfields and two-engined bombers at the LCU's on the front.

At Wake, over 50 Liberator bombers made and appearance today and inflicted moderate damage to the airfield there.

Also, radio signals were detected in the far south Pacific. This may be another convoy attempted to reach Australia. Our carrier force will resupply at Suva tomorrow and set out to the southwest in search of prey again.

War Report 5/10/42
The Japanese air forces were very active today! SRA bases of Soerabaja, Macassar and Amboina were all hit. Ledo in Burma was hit, as were some Chinese ground forces.
The Allies struck back at Mandalay and Myitkina with ineffectual strikes from Wellingtons and Blenheim I's.

While Zuikaku and Akagi received repairs at Singapore, a carrier force consisting of Soryu, Zuikaku, Hiyo and Ryujo arrived north of Batavia and launched a pair of strikes against two nearby tankers, the Empire Unity and Ven-Koh. Both were sunk.

Near Malaya, land based Kates hit the AK Empire Rennie in the straights and sunk it. Also hit was the Empire Opossum in port at Bhanka by Jakes's flying search. Kates and Val out of Kendari also found Allied tankers north of Lautem, hitting the TK's Empire Amethyst and Empire Steel, but missing Empire Coral. Neither ship hit was confirmed sunk.

The Dutch sub O-21 found the AP Ayaha Maru (damaged by air yesterday) and put a torpedo into the troop ship. Damage was heavy and the ship may not last another day.

Feurer Krieg Area Report
The South Pac carrier force arrived in Suva today and took on AVGAS and ammunitions for the planes. There is little diesel for the ships in Suva, but refueling tankers will be met about 200 miles south of Suva in the next couple days for refueling at sea. They will then go south to investigate yesterday's radio intercept.
