I have not been playing the game very long. I have 3 games going 2 of which are campaign games. I do not have any glorious battles to post on here at this time but may in the future. As I read through the posts I am enjoying what I am reading. Maybe as the game progresses my Japanese opponent will agree to post some of the action.

The Big E will hunt them all down!!!!!!

As the Japanese opponent the war so far is not going according to plans... China seems to be in a full-court press. We (Japan) are handling the pressure but - there sure are a whole lot of Chinese. In the PI we are haggling over Legaspi. Malaya is a struggle also - ADM Halsey seems to be throughing everything @ me - including the kitchen sink.

ADM Halsey almost nabbed my TF2 (with the Big-E I think). I was most fortunate to bring TF2 under my TF1 CAP. I brought TF1 back to Hawaii for a return engagement today. It looked most productive from my end - 100+ Vals, 100+ Kates, and good escort. I do wish my DBs had more sense tho - they kept dropping 250lb bombs on BBs - they probably don't even scratch the paint.

Some General notes:

American Destroyers seem to kill my subs much better than my Japanese destroyers seem to do on the American subs.

There is something to be said about having air seperiority. I will enjoy it while I can because later in the war the Air situation for Japan is gunna suck.

American BBs are hard to sink.

ADM Halsey is a very sneaky individual. I hope that I'm giving as good as I get but with the Fog of War on it's sometimes hard to tell.

So far the patch 1.602 seems to be working - I haven't seen a ghost unit yet nor have I lost any troops (but we are still early in the game).

I am really not that sneaky? Am I? Well maybe just a little. I just sent back my turn after TF1 did the revisit to Hawaii. The land based air did manage to send out some Bolos, A20s, B17s and some Dauntless but they of course attack the wrong task force. So they have a few tankers that the subs can track down later. PI is going according to plan so far. China looks like there will be lots of fun. Look out, the Z force has not come out to play yet!

Good Luck to my worthy adversary!

Sneaky ADM Halsey (yes you are sneaky) made a raid in force @ Palau. 13 DDs 2 CLs and the CA Houston. They trashed a pair of cargo ships. And then the 463 Coastal guns of Palau opened up. I didn't see anything sink but I lit that allied TF up - they knew they were kissed.

And at Hawaii I ran into the Lexington and the Big-E. They tapped the CVs Hiryu, Kaga, and Akagi - definately scratched the paint. They spanked the BB Hiei also. But then it was MY turn. I won't know who got the better end of the deal for awhile. They are right off of Hawaii so they don't have far to go for repairs. TF1 is a long way from home...

And of course he still has the Z-Force out there - he was taunting me about it in the last e-mail. It'll be interesting to see where it shows up.

I'm still scrambling in China. There's zillions of 'em - how do they feed them all? Canton doesn't look healthy. I'm expecting to take Alor Starr soon in Malaya. And Legaspi in the PI.

There was more action as the Japanese carriers lick there wounds and turn for home. I was not expecting my subs to add to the damage but one fish slamed in the side of the Hiryu. There where more air strikes from Pearl Harbor also.

As expected Alor Starr and Legaspi fell to the might of the Japanese Army. Fighting continues between the Chinese and Japanese armies with heavy loses on both sides.

With only the Saratoga operational I will be hard pressed to keep up with the expansion. Wake Island and Midway have been reenforced to make taking them a little harder. I guess I will have to take the flag bridge on the Saratoga until the Enterprise is sea worthy again.

Hiryu went down. I should not have lost these ships if I hadn't been so ignorant of the TF commands. TF2 is my tankers, TF1 my Carrier force. I had TF1 following TF2 so I could provide CAP. With 70+ fighters the no-good-no-walking-the-dawg B-17s punched through my CAP and struck two of my Carriers (the Hiryu and X@X@@XXXX) that kicked the SYS and FLD up into the 50s/60s with 8-14 fires each. With speed reduced they formed their own TF.
Here's where I did something extremely not-bright. I brought the 2 wounded carriers back into TF1 thinking everyone would slow down to the 8 knots top speed of the XX@X@@XXXX. Not a bright idea. I should have made the two carriers my lead TF with the others following - I think I could have gotten everyone out of bomber range in 3-4 turns and with CAP set at 100 percent I think I could have chased off the bombers (especially w/o fighter support).
I learned a valiable lesson - one I hope never to repeat.
It's pretty cool to see DDs and CLs sinking as they try to make it home from the Palau incident. I learned something from that too. I think I was just as surprised as ADM Halsey must have been - extra saki for the gun crews!
Canton has got to be the next closest thing to hell. I think there are 180k of Chinese troops and XXXXXXXk of Japanese troops going door-to-door and hut-to-hut. The streets must be running red. I'd hate to be a civilian in Canton.
The fighting near Bangkok went in favor of Japan and their units are driving up towards XXXX@@@@XXXX.

That's all from your faithful war correspondent for now. Please remember that this report goes past the Intelligence weenies for editing. TTFN

Palau was not one of our brighter moments as the DDs drop like flies.

Note to Self: Fly recon over target first or do not attack.

I took a big gamble in moving the Lady Lex and the Big E to join the fight near Pearl. I figured if I was going to take that risk I should be right near port to duck in and dock if things went south. They did and now the Saratoga is on her own to hunt down the other CVs of TF1.

Canton is a blood bath and I am not sure I will be doing any more attacks there for a while. Other areas of China are showing signs of battle as the Chinese try to stablize the front lines. Chinese troops are forming wave attacks as the Artillery pounds the Japanese lines.

In Malaya the Brits can not even buy a bomb hit. Maybe they need to take the sight covers off when making bomb runs.

The call has gone out all over the country. Remember Pearl Habor!

Xtra! Xtra! Read all about it! Japanese Paratroopers land in Hong Kong! Experts agree Hong Kong soon to fall! Other than that, the Akagi fell victim to the round-eyes sinking in spite of the valiant efforts of emegency repair crews to get her safely to Marcus.

Bloodbath in China! Chines troops seem to be armed with sharp sticks and blunt rocks. Japanese troops reported to be running low on ammo in the target-rich environment of Canton.

Rumor has it the Japanese Army is planning a new thrust into XX***@@@ XXXOOOO.

Staff members at Imperial Headquarters in Kobe report that the navy is currently searching for Task Force Z - a group of rag-tag, leaky, old allied ships. It seems to be Admiral Yamato's opinion that their hulls would make good artifical reefs, thus improving the harvest for local fishermen.

Ever striving to bring you quality war news from the front, your faithfull war correspondent for the Rising Sun.

From the Front Lines:

Hong Kong: British flak crews worked over time today as they worked in shifts as the Japanese dropped the cream of the paratropers to try and take the tiny island.

Pearl Harbor: Things are all quite now as the armed forces get back to busness at hand. Repair crews are working round the clock to get the damaged carriers Lexington and Enterprise back into the war.

Admiral Nimitz staff has been behind closed doors looking over the developing situation situation in the Pacific. Sources not wishing to be named suggest a big naval operation is being put together to take the fight to the Japanese.

General Mac in the Phillipines has been assured a releif convoy is froming to bring needed supplys to the troops fighting there.

Malaya: As stated by the Japanese news report, we have seen a flurry of activity by the Japanese to find the Intrepid Z-Force.

All around the Pacific allied troops are holding there ground to stop the Japanese.

Good Luck to you all.

Xtra! Xtra! Read ALL About It!

Japanese Lite Task Force whoops up on tea-timing Z Force - Repulse makes a great artificial reef. In stunning night-time action off of the shores of Legaspi the Z Force came slinking in to perform a naval bombardment on the peaceful base of Legaspi. Coming in from behind TF Z was Captain Nyuma (soon to be promoted - so I'm told) with a small group of destroyers lead by a single CL. Captain Nyuma launched a devistating torpedo attack and followed through with accurately placed fire from the main guns of his task force. Force Z was caught totally by surprise! Medical experts surmise that Anglos - with their round eyes - might lack the strong night vision abilities that are taken for granted by people of Japanes decent.
Captain Nyuma's TF broke from the engagement only after running out of ammo! TF Z did, much later, perform a night time naval bombardment but again, most likely due to poor night vision, they faired poorly in their performance - shooting up trees, shrubs, and killing 3 pigs belonging to a nearby farm. Troops stationed at Legaspi didn't even bother to take shelter. Many compared the night-time activities to a very poor New Years Eve Fireworks display.

TF Z is currently steaming SW for its life - trying to escape the range of Japanese planes equiped with torpedoes. Apparently they are in such a panic to escape the certain death of our Japanese flyers that they are leaving crippled ships to fend for themselves. It seems to this reporter that the leader of TF Z has no honor.

From the Front Lines:

China: The Chinese Army is holding its ground against the might of the Japanese Army. Reenforcements are being russed to critical areas to try and push the Japanese back.

Phillipines: American and Phillipine forces are fighting back to push the Japanese back into the sea. A combined British and Dutch force engeged ships of the IJN off the coast of Legaspi. The Repulse was sunk during this battle. Survivors of the doomed ship where picked up by several other ship as they were taking fire. The combined fleet has returned to base to refit and resupply so they can continue to take the battle to the enemy.

Central Pacific: The USS Saratoga is carrying out hit and run raids in the Marahall Islands. THe Americas continue to bring men and matireals to positions in the Pacific for the start of Operation Tropical Lightning.

ALIENS Attack peaceful convoy on supply mission to help starving peasants in the PI!

TF 29, consisting of 5 non-military ships enroute to the PI on a purely humanitarian mission were abducted by little green men in a large, cigar-shaped flying UFO. After various medical and sexual unauthorized tests were conducted upon the hapless crews they were then deposited back to earth NW of Hawaii.

Diplomatic efforts are being made with the Americans to allow this TF to safely reach Marcus Isle where Japanese officials can provide needed medical and psycological assistance to the crew members.

This is a Special Report:

A Japanese supply convoy appeared suddenly to the northwest of the Hawaiian Islands yesterday. The Swiss Ambassador relayed the strange message from the Japanese Ambassador on what supposedly happened to this convoy. The United State issued this reply: “We are not sure what happened to this supply convoy that placed it just northwest of the Hawaiian Islands. We are monitoring its movements at this time. Since it was on a humanitarian mission we will not attack it. We will continue to monitor its movements and will allow it to have safe passage to the Marcus Islands. If it deviates from this course we will have no other option but to sink it.” CincPAC has sent naval forces to shadow this convoy until it reaches a point past Wake Island.

This has been a Special Report, we now return you to normal broadcasting.
