What? That is Ubisoft's site. With SSI I mean Strategic Simulations Inc where Gary Grigsby and Joel Billings used to work and where Steel Panthers serie came from.

Ubi bought SSI ages ago; SSI hasn't had a website of it's own for years.

All right, I got it. I don't remember seen news about it. Was SSI sold out when Joel Billings quit working on there?

What is fate of games of SSI? Where can I buy Panzer General for example? Any chance for freeware and updated versions of the games like Pacific War: Matrix Edition?

[edit]
I have mailed to 2 by 3 Games and asked something about this (like confirmation for claims Fantasy General being freeware now). I haven't got reply. They used to work in SSI so I thought they should know...

what do you mean updated versions of Pac War Matrix Edition??? The updated version of this game is now called War in The Pacific.

Pac War Matrix Edition was the final update to the original Pac War which was ...if memory serves me.. released in 1993 or 1994. It was a gem when it was released but both the graphics and engine are showing their age. The new WITP is the update I think you are looking for. It is all encompasing and quite simply fantastic.

Dunno about the original Panzer General or the rest of the 5-star General series (allied, pacific, star, fantasy), but you can buy Panzer General II, III, or 3D Assault here:

Also if you're a fan of the SSI classic Fighting Steel, check out what these guys have done with it!
