I hope I have attached a save zip file of a before and after of game turns. The before slot should be 8 and the after should be 9. I am on ver 1.60 and running on Windows XP Pro SP1+ AMD Sempron 2200+ with 512meg ram 2700, and 128mg MSI Video card. The problem I have encountered is I created a transport TF 1056 at SF with 29 ships (most being AK 7000) and escorts. After I run the turn TF 1056 is made up on only escorts and no TF's which seem to want to stay in SF and party. I noticed this on other TF's I created when I checked on the progress of the TF's and found that other TF's are also escort only heading to PH. Is there a limit to the number of human TF's and have I exceeded this limit? Well I have tried to attach the save zip file and cannot do this? Who do I send this file too???????????????????????????????????????????????????

I went through the next turn and deleted a number of Human controled TF's I created, and still have the problem of no AK's out of SF on the following turn. This started about 3 or 4 turns ago and I have just now caught it. After starting all over after the 1.60 upgrade I hate to start all over yet again but it looks like unless I don't need any more AK out of SF I have no choice. I just hope no one else has the same problem. Up to this point the game has been great. Maybe I should have stuck with UV and saved the money.

Have you checked to make sure that no areas are under computer control and you are not using auto convoy?

Thanks for the response. I have downloaded the 1.602 updates and installed them. I then ran the saved game and got the same result. Lots of escorts with no AK's. I have checked and the only zones I have under comp control are West and NW. Yes I have auto convoy on but the ships I selected for the transport convoy are not red/assigned to auto convoy duty. Up to this point I have created many transport convoys and had no problems. But at this point I have run out of ideas.

This is a lingering known issue. If you have any zones under computer control and are using auto convoy system the AI will steal ships from your task forces.

I believe you can work around it by turning those features off untill your TF is under way, then turn them back on. I am not sure though as I never use computer control or auto convoy.

The other alternative is to set the convoy leaving SF to "CS" control, then go back to it a couple a days out of SF and flick it back to human control.

A further option (which is the one I find most useful) is to change the return port to Los Angeles. Eventually you can operate a large slice of your merchant fleet out of LA. And if you set the outbounds to auto disband on return to LA (with 4 AR and 2 AD anchored) you get a pool of fully repaired, repairing and upgrading ships and escorts to form into convoys without too much fiddling about.

You also use up some of the supply and fuel generated in LA that otherwise "overclocks" past 999999.

And I should have added the beneficial corollary that using LA as described frees up shipyard capacity at SF for working on the high cost capital ships (in particular the BBs)

Thanks for all the responses and hints. I do manage most of the transport convoys myself but I have let the auto convoy system handle some of the rear bases that I somtimes forget about. I will just have to turn it off and keep an eye on those rear bases. So far I have only played the AI but have enjoyed this great game.
Thanks again

Terry
