If it was a hoax....dont see why all the fuss....to me its not out of the realm for a person to do a 'death by gaming' incident. its unlikely, but even younguns can do themselves in with the right amount of abuse and/or neglect.

I read once a bizzare event in a small town where a 14 year oldish kid was playing around with a friend and got punched over his heart hard. Few minutes later he keeled over of cardiac arrest.

Reminds me of an old Bloom County cartoon with Binkley's dad in bad......mussing about all the thousands of complex chemical reactions that must occur within the human body every minute of every hour in order to maintain life....and if any of them were to go wrong....bing!

Binkley: "aw comm'on dad__"

Dad: "DONT JOSTLE THE BED!!!!!!"

Ah, Bloom County.......Opus just doesn't have the same effect (though it is good).

I play WITP 12 hours per day everyday and have been doing so for over a year and before that I tested at least 16 hours per day 7 days a week.

Errm.....I know you're not independently wealthy because you are always asking people to buy you beer.

Just read an article in the paper that say`s gamers in Korea actually play for money from sponsors and can make a good living at it. Anybody hear of such a deal. It sounds farfetched.

That's true, they are especially crazy about Starcraft, they have tv channels only showing SC tournaments. Some months ago I saw a documentary about it, they followed a young Canadian guy around who had moved to Korea because he could make a living there only from playing SC plus he was treated like a music/movie star.

I'm 54 years old and I have arrhythmia, and cardio myopothy (enlarged heart), and do spend many hours at my computer playing UV and learning WitP, including a period of several months last year while I was off work where a friend and I played all day long day after day. During this period of time we also drove to Colorado (from Seattle) for a week to meet a couple other friends where we played UV all week, stopping only to fix more drinks.

Just saw my cardiologist a couple weeks ago and she said I was doing great. The point is if computers could kill I'd be dead already. But then maybe I'm just hard to kill.

If this was true the Navy would have run out of OSs, AWs, STGs, STS, NFOs and CIC watch officers, not mention CTs et al, years ago. All these folks put in enormous amounts of time staring at various CRT systems (well, many are plasma now) on operations.

Speculate all you want, this guy is not dead because he never lived. They don't even have his name, there are no pictures, they don't say where he was playing the games.

Lee means nothing, its like Smith

Naming the city means nothing either

They don't name the actualy game parlor, because there isn't one

They don't have photos because there is no place to photograph

Ssshhhh Tom! You're going to take all the fun out of this story if you start bringing truth and empirical analysis into the equation.
