I've see threads about how well turn 1 goes, here's one from the other side. Share your worst turn 1 experience.

I just started a Sc 15 pbem with dec7th surprise on. Running 2 day turns. I decided to hit Manilla and take out the subs. KB was set to patrol/do not retire and parked it 180 due east of the port. Topped off the pilots for the carriers prior to the attack (though played head to head about 10 times for turn 1 w/o topping off the pilots and didn't have any issues). Results : LB fails to launch any strike on dec 7th but finally decided to get off their dead asses on the 8th. The element of surprise was gone. Net results were 4 subs, a minesweeper and an AK sunk in Manilla.

Somebody is going to have to work hard to beat this turn 1 .....

I sent KB to Pearl and the strike was cancelled due to poor weather. I didn't ask for a restart, I figure I have some good luck due from that one.

I thought the weather was automatically clear everywhere on turn 1?

Or is that just in Pacwar?

I think the global weather is clear for turn one, but you still get some local clouds while the turn runs. Just not has many as in cloudier global weathers.

correct. "Clear" forcast just means a much reduced chance that your parade will get rained on, but the chance of perticipation in a specific hex is always there. I had a PH turn 1 raid rain out once myself......fortunately an AI game.....restart

In my current PBEM game as Japan KB failed to launch an airstrike on 7 Dec. I have no idea why.

My happy opponent then launched a full strike of all his LBA hitting one of my carriers. It was some time ago so I do not recall which CV (would need to look at game) or if ti was a torp or bomb. My CV is sitting in Tokyo on about 49 sys damage.

With no surprise I decided not to strike the port and on day 2 I hit the airfield. I was just unhappy that I sailed all that way for nothing.

I did have good news. On day 3 Lex was arriving back at PH and was sunk by a full strike from KB. By this stage KB was west of PH.

Every cloud has a silver linning - but does a CV make up for no ships damaged?

I'd say YES. CV are more useful than those old battlewagons anyhow.
