Way the wheel looks, I'd say its more a Wildcat.... wheel seems to be mounted from the fuselage, not the wing.

Japanese twin engine of some sort.
Did noticed the combination aileron-flaps on the wing.
I would say it is a Nell.
The bomb is likely in the 30kg range.

The bomb does not look american. The nose and tail riveted or bolted to the cylindrical body? I'm thinking Japanese or maybe Chinese. Did the Chinese use home grown aerial bombs?

I was thinking Japanese by the bomb... but the wheel reminds me of a Wildcat. Just hope that guy doesn't trip!

Its not an American or Brit plane. The prop tips arent painted yellow, and there is no spinner. Lack of spinner and wheel out of the engine cowl tells me its a Nell. The flaps looked German, but I couldnt find a German plane with no spinner either.

Do believe that you are right.... G3M1 Nell. This style flap is unique to the Nell. Note the oil cooler under the engine cowling. The tire is way too big for a fighter and retracts aft into the rear of the engine cowling. There also appears to be a faded darkish stripe about 1 foot from the hub on the propeller blade. If it was red, then that would also support Japanese.

The bomb is most likely a 30kg GP as you said. The contruction of it is definitely Japanese. Also note the style of pants the man is wearing. They appear to be baggy, Japanese style and possibly tied with a cloth belt. Certainly not US issue.

Heh, thats what I was thinking. And how often were bombs light enough to shoulder used in the Nell?

That's the infamous 500kg AP bomb that Brady's been talking about for so long. And, it's being loaded into a Val or possibly a Nate.

LOL!

Just to throw out another possibility - could this possibly be Chinese using some type of Soviet AC?

Russian AC all have spinners, and the prop tips are red. Not to say that the spinner might have fallen off and they didnt paint the props for the Chinese, but unlikely.

We carried 100lb projos on each shoulder when we replanished the guns in an arty unit. One bomb that big is no big deal.
